If any one has an extra ticket for Saturday, I could use it!!

I'm all set to drive from Dallas with my 10-year old son -- main grandstand tickets and parking lot N pass. Just came from Wally-World to buy my son rain boots. Rain suits just arrived from Amazon today.

But... What do you guys (especially the ones in Austin who have been watching the weather more closely than I have) think about Saturday? Will qualifying happen? Should I make the drive? If it was just me I wouldn't care much if quali is cancelled -- I would get my souvenir glass and turn around and head home. But I don't wont to subject my son to 6-7 hours in the truck for nothing...

The parking lots are rough at best. Lots of cars stuck in the mud. Tomorrow is supposed to be THE rain day. We're not going to the track tomorrow.

The drive back to Austin was a storm of Biblical proportions..looking at current radar it seems MOST of the storm is passing thru Texas well to the NOrth of us...

Hmmm. Parking lot N is closed. COTA website says that I have to use the downtown shuttle.

I just read that the FIA will be announcing (or making?) their decision about today's schedule at 7:00 am. (In 25 minutes.)

COTA website says lot F is open, but recommends using downtown shuttle. Lot E is closed, and E parking pass holders are to use Lot F!

    Holey-moley! :(

Isn't quali scheduled to start at 1pm local time? That's gonna be a little "tight" to put it mildly.

Having said that, I just looked at the weather radar; Oh dear!..... Doesn't look at all promising to me.

Hopefully it'll continue to move on past and at least be OK'ish tomorrow.

Dave; Can't remember where, but they have run quali on Sunday morning before. So on the bright side, if you just purchased race day tix you *may* get to double dip as it were! ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Any news on qualifying today. COTA doesn't answer for any schedule update and I haven't found an FIA source of news

Qualifying at 1:00. If lightning causes cancellation, grid order will be based on current standings, but Scuderia is penalized 10 places due to using a new, fifth engine. So instead of front row for Vettel, he would be in sixth row. But qualifying could still happen today, though for Vettel at least, there is no upside to that. Other than lack of practice and fine tuning, he would be better off if qualifying is cancelled.

What a mess. Really no place to park. FIA is sending me text and e mails. My guess, a cancellation will come for the rest of the day. My sack rat hit a home run.

Haven't they done Sunday qualifying at Spa because of weather? Perhaps Sunday, which is supposed to be early rain showers or done, could handle a real qualifying session. If they line up in points order adios Louis
