Hi Guys, am one of the lucky ones here with an allocation for the F12tdf. Need advice as to whether it is a good idea to have the car wrapped to prevent stone chips etc by Ferrari's factory. Am looking to fully wrap the whole car. Apparently they do provide this service but at a cost I was told. Has anyone out there had their car wrapped directly from Ferrari's factory? Please let me have your opinions if its worth doing and do you reckon the wrap be done well. Also if Ferrari do actually provide this service. Many thanks.

I have no idea if they do it, yet I would wait and do the car at your location. Why? There are many people who do a great job locally in many markets, you can choose your wrap brand, and you will have warranty service from a real person close by.

I would say that they should do it IF they are removing panels and wrapping things in way that's better. It's a toss up still, because warranty service on a wrap is a nightmare, no dealer can help you there ... except to pay a third party. I would ask if they handle service claims that way.

I would suggest you wait until the car is delivered to your dealer and then have their ( or your) trusted 3M guy do the wrap. This way you can have the car detailed/ paint correction before the wrap is applied. Anecdotal reports suggest the factory rap is not always applied as well as local specialists will perform, but I have no direct experience with the factory rap. I do have an F12 on the way and chose to pass on the factory wrap for reasons noted above.

Don't let Ferrari do it. You don't know how good or bad your paint job will be. You might end up with the swirls and other common Ferrari defects trapped under the wrap. On top of that, the wraps I've seen them do, has been sub-par with bubbles, lines etc. + a wrap that has been applied on very fresh un-hardened paint, can cause major problems when removed. Get the car paintcorrected after delivery by someone good and then wrapped in one of the selfhealing films like Xpel Ultimate or Suntek.

Very good advice.. I have experience with factory installed swirls and holograms. I would have it done locally. Plus the factory uses a thick 3M film, you want a modern self healing film.

I ordered my 458 wrapped at the front and half the hood, some one said it is probably done at the dealers?? if it is done at the factory then I would not go for it, My wife's Boxster is a 100 times better haven been done at a Xpel expert, when he looked at my 458 he asked who did that , for example the badge at both side infront of rear wheels has just got a rectangle cut out of it rather than removed and replaced, but as I said it was ordered direct from the factory so I cannot comment if it was actually done there.

Thanks guys for all your feedback. Much appreciated. I have now decided not to have the wrap put on at the factory.

Agree with this. The factory wrap application is not good enough. I have also seen new cars delivered with bubbled and creases. Have the car detailed when delivered to remove any swirl marks and correct the paint. Then get the wrap applied after.

you can tell if a car has been factory wrapped or at least Ferrari film used as on each from wing there is a hologram of a cavilino above the wheels. I noticed it but the xpel guy said oh not seen one of these before so I guess as he has wrapped many 458's that what we saw was in the film. Defo go for aftermarket XPEL Ultimate

The cars are not wrapped at the factoy as per my knowledge. I've been told they include a roll of the paint protection film with the car and the dealer is responsible for the application - not even sure if it's precut or if this is also left to the dealer. FWIW I would not want the car wrapped at the factory, the Ferrari factory prep is notoriously sub-par. Ditch the factory option and have the car ceramic coated (artic coating/ceramic pro) or a similar alternative (xpel as mentioned above) along those lines.

Before you were to apply a clear bra you would want to ensure that the paint finish meets your standards first. As has been the case with many of my Ferrari's and especially any of the triple layer finishes, I've had to get the car paint corrected FIRST and then afterwards has the clear bra installed.

Congrats on your allocation! What exterior color are you considering...?

Hi Romo, thank you. Am currently considering a Bianco Fuji or a Bianco Italia. Possibly with a black roof.
