One more render showing comparison of current & adjusted roof line. http://s22.postimg.org/h11nzs9b5/510415044050.jpg Its interesting that car looks much longer & sleeker with tapered roof.
Replying to an old post here. I've been both an interior designer and now a decorated music engineer, taste based income ... and in my view the FF is beautiful. Ugly you say? You have poor taste. As far as sales, the FF was not a huge hit but the numbers are not far from the F12 so why the hate? The depreciation has leveled off, it was a new thing in many ways, but it's solid. As far as what the "modern Ferrari brand" is built on, can you site a source for your clearly defined opinion? As far as the Panamera comparisons, that's just a joke. The Porsche feels huge, and is not fun at all, or beautiful IMO.
We all different ! I can't wait to get the new FF. Specially after driving one, i really saw the point why they made such beautiful everyday 4 seats Ferrari ! Mbn
Your personal impression & emotion as owner is one thing, objective view on product design is another. From visual point of view, FF have problematic shape of roof line that is not common for Ferrari design culture. That is strong fact, not my personal impression. That is not design fail from Ferrari, it was made on purpose to make FF more practical, while sacrificing aesthetics. If you can get over that, its expected that you think FF is beautiful. If you put FF in perspective with other Ferrari products, its one of the ugliest cars Ferrari ever produced (FF is present in every list that is presenting ugliest Ferrari cars ever). Feel free to share your portfolio with me, I would like to see your design work Type in Google Ferrari FF sale numbers and then F12 sale numbers. Compare those two and get back on this topic with numbers you got You can get best perspective through reading interviews of Pininfarina & Ferrari designers regarding modern Ferrari brand, but since minority of people nowadays like to read, I suggest you to take a look on Luca´s amazing speech where he explains core values of modern Ferrari brand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3Lb8phIBL8
This is too funny. I'm sticking with my taste and the taste of those who I know and trust. We find many Ferrari's to look worse than the FF, and there are no "facts" on taste.
I'm not a owner and i love the way the FF looks ! I can understand owners liking because I drove one and design wise, it's different in a beautiful ferrari everyday way. I didn't like the F12 until i was walking next to one few weeks ago and saw the car up close, I called my friend who is my dealer manager and we met at his office few days later and i spaced mine. Due to my busy life i never had a chance to see the F12, seeing is believing and its the same case with the FF IMHO. Mbn
Actually I just switched my idea of buying a 991 GT3 RS and bought an i8. And it's one of the best cars i ever had, just took delivery few days ago and I can't stop driving it everywhere and anywhere. The steering alone is an addiction so light, sharp and smooth, the whole car is due to its smoothness. You get edrive, Comfort and ECO PRO...mods And the Sports mode that will fire the 1.5 engine along with front electric motor. Mbn
The FF is a beautiful car, at least mine is. Have a look in the Garage. What exactly is "wrong" with that view? lol 612 is ugly to me. You disagree? Cool. Apparently the full moon with these guys ...
"Get back to me" ... the first 4 words of the rude humans national anthem. Ok bro ... I will play the macho game. Some actual facts. Euro sales 1350 F12 to 938 FF for the same 3 years period. That actually makes sense, a sexy flagship V12 GT monster vs. a 4WD 4 seater with a hatchback, in a fleet of 2 seater image. US sales I can't find. Fact is, the entire brand push is exclusivity, profits up since 2012 "peak Ferrari" with lower sales, so it's a win win no matter the sales, yet I would argue the FF has done fairly well for being such a weird Ferrari. In the beginning it was crickets. Over time the car has been increasingly appreciated as the all occasional monster that it is. The 4 seats is one thing, but 4 truly comfortable seats is ground breaking. As is the 4RM. The steering wheel design of the 458 and later is the real Ferrari IMO, nothing that important has happened since the early years of the design and always ... the engines. Beauty is more than skin deep to people of an evolved taste. Form and function combined beats the masculine lines of the 360 or the overly feminine 612 with that trident-nose design. All ugly to me. F50 and all the 80s cars? Ugly. You can have all the 17,000 360 in the world, they're ugly junk in comparison to any FF in my view. Sales is not validation for beauty, and historically is proportioned IN OPPOSITION to both timeless beauty and groundbreaking ideas. Older Ferrari models, the really old ones, all amazing in my opinion. I like the old, and the new, not the in between. That's my taste. And that new FF rendering for example, made the car look worse IMO ... as it's lost the visual weight in the rear, and the practicality that adds to the sexy for people over 40, and for women. Speaking of women, they love the look of my FF. They pity the 2 seater Fcar buyers as mid life crisis types, that's a fact I have heard repeatedly from under 30s, and very hot women by any measure. Taste is acquired and unique ... and is not about sales. Your bluster and insults are absurd.
The only reason FF hasn't sold more is because for a 'practical' Ferrari it is very expensive. It's a new dimension for Ferrari, the All Season Ferrari. The market has understandably taken time to grasp this new concept but they are now starting to get their heads around the idea. Here in Europe the second hand market for FF is very buoyant. You'll also be hard pushed to find anyone who has driven the FF and isn't impressed by it. Interestingly since I've had my FF I have noticed women seem to overwhelmingly really like the look.
Can't argue taste and preference for facts. But to call the FF really ugly does rub me the wrong way as it comes off very ignorant. I love the look of my FF inside and out. And while there are many cars, even Ferraris I do not like, I would never go out of my way to call them ugly...
Women like practical cars, generally speaking of course. They love the AMG G Wagons and the Rovers and the FF is the best of the lot
Agreed. My use of "ugly" for certain models was in response to his comment that FF was "factually" ugly (absurd) and should have been in quotes for de-emphasis. They're all beautiful, they're Ferrari.
Frankfurt dealer today told me that the new FF is being revealed in Geneva next year and offered to arrange me a viewing up close. Said V8 was coming but no word if it's in addition or instead of the 12. Hope the latter!
That means they already have finished model for preview! If that is true, its pretty obvious we will not see radical visual changes...
