MY87 with horizontal dash side vent. Blu Acapulco is very nice, our Jalpa FLA12203 had this color, but not ideal on a CT. There is a 1985 QV in Switzerland with the same color, don't know the VIN but the car looks stunning.
Thank you for the Autovisie (Dutch magazine) article from 1986. This car is in PPG 2.463.729 Argento Luna Metallizzato, and is one of the more stirking DD's Ive seen! Clearly a Swiss car, Raymond do you know this one? Again, I wonder why more were not specced in this silver color. The title of the article Koning Countach translated is: King Countach. To be 100% sure we should also see the engine bay, plus check the production list I unfortunately don't have...
A better series of images that shows the color to true effect is the set by GF Williams of the UK DD which now belongs to F1 boss Gerard Lopez Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This was one of the very first DD cars produced - an owner brought it to the Saltzburg Ring during an ILOC even in early 1985, Valentino turned some very "hot" laps - epecially through the banked sweeper. As you can see the suspension was quite ridgid - the wing was aftermarket. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very little body roll even at speed .......... production in 1988 .............. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Joe Any idea how may DD were made with the traditional body (ie without side skirts and/or appendages)? Most DD I've seen like this were in 85 and partly through 86
Very cool, Bianco/Bianco German-registered DD, here is another (or possibly the same) early DD in Germany in the same livery. What are the chances? Image Unavailable, Please Login
John the side-skirted cars did not start till late 1987. So the skirt-less cars you speak of are 1985, 1986, and most of 1987. That much is already established. I'm not sure how many skirt-less cars were made, but I know from Marmirolli that as soon as 200 were built, the works applied for FIA Homologation at the end of 1987. So that's the best clue I can offer, clearly not accurate, but something to go on.
Speaking of Argento Luna Metallizzato, this car with Rosso interior is the only one I have seen besides the one featured in the Autovisie magazine article in 1986. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alex, agreed, and on that note we are going to require many more images of your black beauty! With your kind permission I'll start... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another view showing the car's distinctive power-dome. Your Downdraft is known to me to be one of the best cared-for examples. You've done a remarkable job over the years, Bravo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Could very well be, do not know the license plate,The car was originally imported by a vegetable distributor, but for one reason or another, was shortly thereafter sold to a very prominent shipping family(one of the sons) wich also have a huge car collection/and car museums, very good home for a DD,know the older brother quite well, this car will probably stay in their ownership forever. Thanks for posting the picture.
Thanks for your kind words Joe, the black "Tenebre" color has such a shine, depth and is smooth as glass. The third picture was actually sent to me - my DD was parked in front of the entrance of the factory museum during an important meet and also had the pleasure of being in the first row of the track parade during the 40th celebration between a Miura SV and a purple Diablo SE - these cars were "selected" by the organization. Autoilustrierte June 1987, featuring a fabulous Bianco/Bianco DD, sent by Raymond with some fascinating notes: This must be HLA12046 or HLA12050, I tend to HLA12046 because TG-Plates ist in east of Switzerland, Lac Constance, and the car was serviced in the area Zurich, east of Switzerland before 2000, then she moved to french part of Switzerland. Whereas HLA12050 was always based in the French part of Switzerland. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Officially, this is PPG 2.467.026 Nero Tenebre. Or just black! A German-registered car in the same color at a Hillclimb event. Image Unavailable, Please Login
