    Yes bumper not body. Boxers have a flat area on the rear clam shell that's easy to indent. The Miura does not, but the bumper is the best choice.

    That is funny, but this has to be said. That silver car next to your car was what Ferrari was making when the Miura came out. The old man really held Ferrari back when it came to technology. Look at how long it took Ferrari to put disc brakes and go to cast wheels(the same style wheels the 275 pictured has in 1963 on Ferrari F1 cars) on their racing cars. The Miura looks like it came from another generation!!

    Believe me I tried to get it where it would not need to be pushed. I hot wired it by first joining all three wires to allow it to start and than let the starter wire drop off with only the juice and the electric pump wires held together. But they kept on disconnecting between my fingers and the car would stall. I needed both of my hands to drive the car. The Miura is the easiest car to hot wire. FYI to all the Miura thieves...

    I am on the process of restoring a Miura P400 and I need to purchase the door jamb rubber in order to fit the and adjust the doors to complete the bodywork.
    I have been told that the original door jamb rubber was held by an aluminum trim. The door rubber that I sourced in Italy is a pressed-on style rubber which locks on the edge of the jamb. Which is correct? Would anyone know where I could purchase the correct door rubber or have photos of the original rubber?

    The original rubber for the earlier cars was one complete piece that fit the door opening and held in place by individual pieces of trim with very small screws. If you don't have these pieces; especially the original rubber, you'll probably have to go to an extruded piece of rubber that fits the opening.

    Would anyone have a photo of the trim? I managed to find the factory rubber and I would like to fabricate the trim and keep the car original if possible.

    Forgive me for my misunderstanding, paying more attention to the records chapter in your book, I’m focusing and trying to understand your explanation about chassis #5092.

    #5092 is consistently noted over several pages, for which you spend a lot of time to research and to explain us a scenario. Based on a fact I noticed myself at factory, here are the study case and my questions.

    1) “The poor research of Coltrin/Marchet” (as you mentioned in your book) listed #5092 in their book with body 754 and engine #30767, gold/black, Walter Wolf - car claimed delivered 17.4.1975

    2) According to the factory listing you published, #5092 was delivered 20.1.1973 with engine #30667 to Lansberg Harry Parigi…



    You will agree there are already 3x informations different from these 2 sources :

    Engine :
    Coltrin/Marchet : correct engine number matching the car today
    Factory list : incorrect engine number, may be a typing error, who knows…

    Customer :
    Coltrin/Marchet : assumption to Walter Wolf
    Factory list : refers to Lansberg Harry Parigi

    Delivery date :
    Coltrin/Marchet : assumption to 17.4.1975
    Factory list : stated the 20.1.1973



    About #4956, it was fitted with engine #30667 and delivered 1.10.1971 to VPM, with a customer who was no other than Mr Harry Lansberg…

    Today, we all know that #5092 is resprayed in yellow and belongs to factory Museum.

    Regarding history of #5092, I agree it is a re-manufactured car based on #4956 with a new Bertone body N° 754/854 (as you want) then history is not clear.


    A) I was wondering to know why you don’t wrote a word about the fact Mr Harry Lansberg is listed in the factory list you printed (which is your reference list) ?

    B) How strange coincidence which is not explained : your reference factory records is mentioning #5092 delivered to customer Harry Lansberg and #5092 was re manufactured on #4956 which was belonging to the same Harry Lansberg. How can you now explain this, if there is an explanation ?

    C) I’m also wondering why you wrote and made an affirmation in page 160 that : “…#5092 which was re-manufactured car from 4956, using its 1971 engine…” ?

    5 years ago, I already posted pic of #5092 engine showing it is #30767 (below)… so the information in Coltrin/Marchet list was correct and was incorrect in the factory list, do you agree ?

    D) Natural following question is : but, where is now engine #30667 ?

    Because it is not fitted in #5092, so in which Miura and why ?

    It took you seven (7) years to come up with these questions Olivier? :eek:

    I'll try and answer.

    A) No particular reason, I didn't feel it necessary to elaborate on Landsberg, just my decision & choice at the time.

    B) This story has been clarified in this thread at least half-a-dozen times! Landsberg owned 4956. Crashed in testing. Factory gave him another car in compensation. Stamped it "4956" to help avoid re-import taxes to France. Not uncommon practice at the time. Chassis of crashed 4956 became "5092" rebuilt by the works. 5092 in fact went to Barbara & Walter Wolf. I don't think I've presented that scenario in any other way in the thread in the past or my book that the way Ive just repeated, so its not that confusing. Not at all hard to envisage pr follow given the practices if the time. FWIW, the bits from the crashed 4956 circulated somewhat as '5092' got a new body http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/141925396-post3.html

    C) Because that's what happened. When Wolf owned 5092, the rear hood was replaced, and at some point it got a new engine. I interviewed Wolf and he detailed how the rear hood flipped on Barbara @ 100 mph because she forgot to lock it! He also detailed a story about driving it with no oil in the engine! Sure, I agree the current engine is 30767.

    D) 30667 is possibly re-stamped, and its exact location is undetermined to me, but I do have some ideas.

    Hope this helps, and as I said, I wanted to try and answer to your satisfaction, but please accept my responses for what they are as I don't intend to go back-and-forth on this. A lot of this stuff is open to interpretation and I'm good with cases where someone sees anything differently.

    I don't know how you would duplicate this trim without having a removed set in hand. Below are some photos of of the door rubber installed with the correct trim. The trim varies in width depending on its location around the door.

    I appreciate your help and I thank you very much! The photos you posted will help me a lot. I realize I can just install the aftermarket rubber but I just don't like the modern look of the rubber. I would rather install the crude looking trim. It feel the same about the upholstery.I noticed that many owners are using leather to re-upholster their seats but I prefer the original vinyl or fabric look much better.

    You can easily find these original Miura door rubber seals - still currently produced in Italy by Cicognani-guarnizioni . You can buy directly from them or via their US distributor Mr.Fiat.
