Not exactly sure what your question is, but my first thought is why would you start with a van as the donor vehicle?
There are so many other vehicles that would lend themselves to a sportscar, why start with an ill proportioned van?

It would cost considerably more to have a large super car made, sourced from other donors.
Im wondering how hard it would be to relocate the angled engine further to the rear.

My first impression of the Vision concept is that it really is beautiful for what it is. I think the rear end and the surfacing in elevation are very nice.

My more critical eye, wonders why the car needs such a long front end. It seems it must be mostly to command "presence", for the engine compartment is surely large enough to fit a V12! Also, as noted before, I'm not much of a fan of the claustrophobic "turret top" designs that seems to have developed into a bit of a trend of late (Chrysler 300, Camaro, M-B GT); can we leave the Jimmy Dean Merc behind please?

Given the size advantage of the rotary, I hope Mazda could be a bit more adventurous with a new "RX". I'd really like to see what these same designers could do with a mid-engine concept. I can understand their reluctance, after watching Toyota launch an number of MR2s over the years to limited enthusiasm, but there's no reason they couldn't use a mid-engine car to target the area just below the Alfa C2 & Cayman. It wouldn't hurt that the different drive train layout would completely differentiate it from the Miata which I believe hurt the sales of the last RX8.

As an enthusiast, I find the Yamaha Sports Ride concept far more interesting, if slightly aesthetically challenged! When I saw it, the first car that popped into mind was the TommykairaZZ from 15 years ago.

From the rear it looks like a chopped top version of any mini Ute. Of were you referring to the FF?

My goal is to just get it on the road for as cheap as possible... it would be more of a poser car then anything else :)
I like to plan for the simplest way to relocate the original engine if possible.

the front is a bit OTT for me, but the rest would make a good Maserati IMO

I was thinking the rounded rear door looked a lot like a Vauxhall Corsa or Renault Megane. They've always looked very bloated in the rear, even more so when you see them on the road and you're behind them.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

while poking around Formtrends looking at some of the Tokyo reports, I stumbled upon this brief review of the Art Center summer show...

In Pictures: Art Center Summer 2015 | Form Trends

I thought the turquoise "estate" by Jason McGinnity was particularly interesting, with strong simple forms.
Although branded as a Chrysler, it strikes me as an ideal starting point for a Lincoln design.

Some of his little Exner vignettes were really terrific as well.
I really like the slammed yellow station wagon...

Says 'New Yorker' on the fender, but it's a 61 Plymouth wagon, basically. (With Chrysler front fenders... so...)

And I'm old enough to remember "The Forward Look" My dad had 57, 59 and 64 Dodges...

I watched the Chasing Classic Cars episode where Steve Moal designs & builds, with Wayne's 'help', a custom car for Wayne. I think they do beautiful work and some of the cars they have done are very nice. I don't think this is one of them though.

    What say you?

very straightforward interpretation of a retro/classic rod
not my taste, but it's OK
clean execution, with simple form language
the snaps around the belt line & the leather strap holding down the hood don't do it for me, but it would appear the goal was to create a Retro feeling with the car....
I'm sure Wayne & Steve are happy with the results, and that's all that matters
