I wonder what affect the aero kit has on the GTO when not on the track. Supposed to be track only but I have no doubt that the kit is on GTO's that are driven on the street. Cost for the full kit ? Cost for labor installation ? Does anybody have a picture of the full kit installed where the parts/bits are not painted ? The parts/bits are supposed to be carbon but the factory pictures make it look like "low end" plastic (for lack of a better characterization). Not sure I'd like the look on a white or very light colored car with the aero kit, but definitely on a dark ie. black/gray/blue GTO. The only pics I have see of the kit are on kits that were installed at the factory as an original OEM option. Looks like the bits are all painted to the body color in that OEM factory supplied kit scenario so the bits blend in quite nicely making the GTO more closely resemble its XX lineage.

Yes , factory option released years after the end of the GTO production

The kit includes : Extended front bumper spoiler , Winglets a la 599XX, Extended fins in the rear diffusor, bootlid

@ Stephen : Ferrari 599 GTO - 1 augustus 2015 - Autogespot some picture showing the winglets & the spoiler

and here http://www.autogespot.nl/ferrari-599-gto-3/2014/09/04 pictures showing the bootlid spolier and bumper spoiler

    dcmetro,

Thanks for the info. and pics. On the painted kit the aero parts blend in well, but on the non-painted kit it looks like a Liberty Walk add-on. It would be pretty cool to add on the aero kit so that it blends in imperceptibly as if it was OEM from the factory. Be interested in getting a price on the full factory aero-kit with labor costs.

I had the opportunity to buy one of these kits when first offered by Ferrari. At that time they could only be purchased in Europe. But a good friend of mine was gracious enough through his contacts to get one shipped to my dealer for me if I really wanted one. However, since these kits were not to be sold in the U.S. Dealers here were not allowed to install them. They were also concerned over liability issues due to the limitations placed on the kit by Ferrari.... Specifically that it was to be used only at the track, never on the street and only for sale in Europe.
I was also concerned it might actually be dangerous.Since I had absolute no idea how the kit would effect the balance of my GTO when driven at very high speeds and without any dealer support to continually adjust the aero components till I found its sweet spot I decided to pass.

Makes sense and would explain why I have never seen the factory aero kit on any US spec GTO. Still, so long as it did not adversely affect the cars balance in normal driving conditions, it would be very cool to have a dealer installed OEM factory aero kit. Definitely something different. I emailed Ferrari for a price on the full aero kit and I will let the 599 list know if I receive a response.

FYI. The aero portion with the winglets I recall is a solid piece and the original rear pillar portion that it replaces has to be entirely removed for the install and the piece itself comes from the factory unpainted. So you will spend some time paint matching as well.

Ricambi America quoted me $19,300+ shipping (discounted from $21,400 retail price) for OEM custom factory aero kit. On top of the kit cost you need to add not only labor for the part installation, but also potentially painting of some parts and/or repainting of some parts (I have the triple layer nero setoso which I assume is matchable but not as easy as say nero daytona) and then you have the wrapping (ie. 3M) costs (ie. the new front diffuser, winglets, etc.). I'm guessing a bit but I wouldn't be shocked if the labor costs (including the paint/wrap) might run $15K-$20K when all is said and done if the install work is done through an authorized Ferrari dealership. Probably looking at $35K-$40K range depending on where the work is performed. I think if you left all of the pieces in the natural carbon (ie. unpainted) these costs would come down a bit.

Then I guess the only thing left is to write the check:)>)!! Please forward some pics to the rest of us after the install if you decide to go ahead with this project. it would definitely be almost one of a kind here in the U.S. One last thing ....The front spliter may be much lower to the pavement than you are used to. Damaging it would be an expensive replacement and may be one of the reasons that the kit is for track use only.

The front splitter height could be a huge issue and I did ask Ricambi for photos. Unfortunately they are in the same position that we are in and there really is no specific factory data with regard to height or photos in which the height can be discerned. Each aero kit is literally custom made so my guess is that there are very few kits out there out of the 599 GTO's produced. As I stated I have NEVER seen a US spec car with the aero kit and it just might be the case that there aren't any as the factory discouraged the option for US spec cars on the basis that the aero kit is a "track only" option. Of course we have all seen photos of cars on the street with the aero kit so obviously the car with the kit installed can be operated on the street.

Thanks for the kind words Speed Racer ;)

Gents: If you want full details please check out my post in this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/612-599/401320-599xx-wings-gto.html

I came close to buying it but decided not to do so because the configuration depends on what type of track you are driving and the high downforce one can prove to be tricky when driven on fast tracks. I also got my 458 Challenge around that same time so didn't have the need to turn my GTO into a track weapon.

    Cheers,

    M
