Front bay empty? I removed my front spoiler twice. Once, when I dismantled the body myself for the repaint. And once, when I wanted to remove the radiator without removal of the condenser, to avoid opening the A/C circuit. After removal of grille and bumper: A few bolts from underneath. A few bolts accessible via the front wheel wells after removal of the front splash shields. Half an hour for removal. Not much longer for refitting. I didn't even open the front hood. Just a second pair of hands is useful. Best Regards Martin
Martin, thank you very much for the info. The front bay is empty because they had to repaint it and we will service everything (wiring harness, fan motors, lights motors, horn and so on. Now there aren't the lights nor the front grill nor the splash shields so it's very easy to change the front spoiler Ciao
Alberto, never mind ! Classiche will definitely certify your car with 16" and with the deep spoiler. Without red line ! trust me, they will certify everything you show them, if the numbers are matching. The rest is not interesting at all. But if you like these two things so much, why you don't have a 308 QV on wich that was original ? You have a GTB dry sump, on that car there is the one pipe exhaust, the 14" wheels and the small front spoiler original. But if you like it , do it with the deep spoiler.
My car came out from factory with the option Trx wheels, not with 14". Classiche won't give anything with not original brakes or suspensions or with copy wheels. Ciao PS I'm looking for a QV, possibly a GTB
I know , Alberto, but if you have installed contemporary factory possible options (like the 16" Wheels or the deep spoiler, wich both have been possible to order from the factory when the car was delivered) they will certify the car, because it could have been delivered in that way the car is today. If you would have f.e. 17" wheels or a aftermarket spoiler, they would not certify, that's correct.
Markus, wasn't the big spoiler on the QV also an option, though most people ordered it? In the parts book, there are two versions. 'Normale' (assume, this is the small one) and 'Maggiore'. And did the QV come with 16" rims right from the start? I thought, the early QV cars had TRX rims. Anyway, in my opinion the second cutout for the four pipe exhaust is the bigger issue. Best Regards Martin
Alberto, regarding my recent post on this thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=144262478 Do you know the exact date of manufacture of your car? Best Regards and thank you in advance Martin
the deep spoiler and rebuilt shock adsorbers now are installed on the car. Still waiting for that @@@@@ electrician specialist (God, please burn him with a lightning...). ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not trying to answer for Alberto, but I was wondering the same... Noted from his very first pictures of the engine that the block has a casting date of December 1979 with a drop gear cover casting date of April 1980! Assuming all is original, which is very likely based on Alberto's excellent understanding of his car, his car had to have been put together no sooner than April 1980, right?
I know...and I just love your car! I am following your restoration closely, as my blue 77 dry sump is under restoration right now in the US. Keep posting pics, Alberto!
The electrician superspecialist (God, burn him, please...) called me yesterday: "Sir, I cannot go on with the restore because I cannot find two new door light switch, as your ones are gone..." This morning I gave him two brand new ones: they are the same of Fiat 126 and i paid them 3 euro each in a shop that had some NOS ones left... ciao
also the cabin blowers were gone (see pictures of the old ones and of the new ones): at the moment I will install two new ones, then I will try to rescue and restore the rusted OEM ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alberto, your post made me curious about where to obtain new door switches and I was just about to ask you where you exactly got them. But sorry; Then I saw your last post with the picture. And these are not the same like the original ones and would require to drill through the panels for fitting the screw. Furthermore the knob seems to be too short to act on the switch when closing the door, though I'm not quite sure about the required travel length of the original switch. Maybe it's sufficient. Nevertheless I cannot imagine, that this is what you want to go for. Just wanted to mention it, before someone drills through the panels. We already had this topic some years ago: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/technical-q-sponsored-algar-ferrari/95157-85-308-door-switch.html These are the original ones: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Martin. I didn't know I will buy the longer ones. Here are available (maybe, I saw also a version with longer ones on the desk of the shop) ciao
Yes, they have them: they are a redone, white knob. The ones in my picture are Lamborghini Countach (yes!) door switches. Please let me know If you need them and thank you very much for the info and the picture. ciao
Yes, of course, as soon as they will arrive here: I saw this morning them and I asked to be shipped here. They have 40 cabin blowers in stock... ciao
fired the former electrican specialist (four months wasted...), now the new electrician specialist is at work. We decided to redo some of the electric wiring and check all the electric wiring too. So the dash has been removed. The actual situation is this: the car is less complete than before, but this time they are going at full speed and the car will be completed very soon (I hope...) and will do the official rollout exactly in front of Ferrari historic gate in Maranello, as the shop is there. Crossing fingers... ciao PS Martin, sorry: I completely forgot to send you the door switches pictures. I was so upset with the former electrician specialist, that I forgot everything Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
that blue thing starts looking like a car. Of course I wasted some other money in new calipers, new discs, and some other very expensive stupid things that cannot even be seen ... Is there anyone here that can tell me the name of a good doctor in mental illness? I think that blue scrap will be the most expensive 308 ever. ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks, Bruno: then I will just clean it... Here you are the work in progress. ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, I'll try to persuade Alberto to take this Beauty for a spirited drive in the third week of August Bruno ! (I'll make a smartphone-video & will try to get it online, haha !) With me as passenger, I won't put Alberto through the immense pain of leaving the steering wheel in the hands of someone who likes to throw around Italian cars on tracks... Anyway, I'm looking forward to August, for several reasons !!
You mean, August 2017, Emile, of course ? It will never be ready in August 2016...Alberto has fired his electrician, the new one has to begining back from square one. Just kidding, Alberto, just kidding... Rgds
