so it's really taken on the Audi features; this started with the S8's V8 and is also used on Flyspur. i'll keep my comments on lambo's to myself except that they are becoming more and more german everyday - Huricanne is more Audi-esque than anyting else...
The German thing started with the Murci, the problem now it the low quality plastic everything. I got 5 of them if there is any doubt, I can get the calipers out and show anyone that the seat belts I'm my Jetta are thicker nylon than in my aventador-not wildness but thickness. Then there's the stamped metal every part that's reminiscent of the Yugo. I'll stop with that. So I bought a F12,
They definitely are and I honestly like that... While the raw feeling and look of the Diablo was cool to me as a kid, it doesn't do too much for me when I go to drive it on the daily... I like that Audi has started to incorporate a lot of every day things to the Lambo badge. For instance, some people may not like this, such as the Aventador Top Gear episode, but I love how easy the A is to drive. I like that my girlfriend can jump in it and drive it very easily and adjust to it quickly as appose to a diablo or a murcie... I like that they are making exotic cars more practical and have easy daily use. Now I don't want the brand to suffer with lower quality, which, I do not believe it does but for practically I think Audi has done well with the Lambo badge. I want a 500k car I can drive every day and drive to the gym and bank, not one thats very difficult to drive with lots of blind spots and bad turning radius with low and stiff suspension to feel all these daily bumpy roads. But again, its to each his own. We will prefer different things and some will not like the things that I like, so luckily there are some options for all of us out there!
I know the dealers will hate this, but on an F12 to be used as a road car, you really don't need any options. You might have to pay up a bit to get the body color you absolutely love, but an F12 in base trim gives you absolutely 100% of the driving experience. Nice to have and somewhat useful? Rear camera and front lifter. IMHO, that's it.
I'd like a front camera as well, I don't have either, only the lift. No badges, no gimmicks, just f12!!! There's a old movie line I like from the Hustler the old school pool movie that started minnosata fats: No bowling, no pinball just pool, this is Ames mister" Ames was a hardcore no BS pool hall. This idea of a stripped down no perfume f12-which I managed to find for Europe all next summer reminded me of that. Just a 12 cylinder Ferrari , I've had/have the fancy cars, too much work-want a driver, if it gets a ding, great patina!!! Not a psychotic break down.
I agree a Diablo is work to drive, I have 3, they are horrible as a daily car unless you live in a low density area. Your right. I disagree about making Lambo soft, if a person wants soft buy a Audi, not a hybrid Lambo/Audi blended up mix. The blurring of the lines is pushing me into a Zonda and never looking back. My 2¢ minus a couple mil for a Zonda I have to dig up lol What I do like about Ferrari is their cars are softer than before but still feel like what they are a Ferrari , I've driven everyone built since 85. I'm not to bright with the vintage cars, I'm not sure Ho they drive just sat in a few. Hope your good!! Eric
When you say soft, you mean easy to drive? An Audi and an Aventador couldn't be any more different though. If I want something very exotic and sporty with big performance that I can drive everyday, Aventador or Huracan are both great choices. Or do you mean you don't like the fact that Audi is incorporating options and features from their line into the Lamborghini line? I can see where your coming from if thats what you mean and you feel like the Lambo line is being watered down. No complaints brother, likewise! How you liking your F12?
I would add in addition to the cameras and maybe parking sensors if you have kids or will drive it often in places where they would be useful... I like the LEDs on the steering wheel- but you might just think its gimmicky. They've been very helpful for me- mostly on track. FYI you can order it without the CF- the steering wheel will be all leather. The pricing I think is the same as the CF wheel + LEDs.. You might want to research privacy rear windows because I hear tinting the rear window can be a pain and it might be better to do this at the factory. Also you might want to consider the hi-fi system as fitting a good stereo after the fact is considerably more costly. Perhaps this doesn't matter to you. I would also look into the race seats as I personally prefer them to the standard seats. I can feel the car so much better with these seats and I find them more comfortable. Congratulations!
I couldn't agree more with you, but there is one small detail we all should be aware when talking about expensive cars, especially Ferrari. A lot of my clients like to order from me custom renders where they want to see how some very special request (visually) could fit in their future car. At first sight you could say, just order damn stock car and enjoy in it! But, trick is all those people are buying their dream car and they want to incorporate some personal touch that reminds them how they got in place to order something that was dream for them just few years/decades ago. So picking some pricey options when you are ordering your Ferrari is totally understandable for me. You want to create your own vision of the car. And a lot of people are in position to create that vision once in a life time. It is kinda "big deal" i would say.
For our family, the Tailor Made session at the factory made memories that will last for life. My 12 year old daughter picked out the color ( $30K extra cost) and both my wife and daughter helped with leather, stitching, etc. I know Ferrari is laughing all the way to the bank as I have something like $160K in options, but I'll keep that car for life. A true bucket list experience.
Agreed. They are not just selling you the paint color- they are selling you the experience, the dream fulfillment, and the memories.
Thanks for posting your experience! I can testify that the FF makes a great companion to the F12- both very different in terms of handling and experience but cut from the same cloth! And both put the same smile on your face!!!
I hv an FF and a 911T ..... I am planning to get my next car soon. So I tested the 650s and the F12 ...... The F12 is just AMAIZING and for sure both the FF and the F12 are much more comfy than the 911T...... Enjoy your F12
I want to answer this with some thought and not on a iPad, I very much respect you and both of us owning Lambo and Ferrari it might be of some value to some readers here. About the f12, love it. Thought about it for 2 years, wasn't in any hurry. I bought it 2 weeks before I left for Asia 3-4 weeks ago. I had no doubt about what I wanted, a generic looking f12-no badges, or cf, etc. in LA it's kinda not a stand out car. I'm shipping it to Europe to drive the hell out of it next summer for a few months, changed my mind about doing that in a Lambo. I'm going to be in Munich in about 2 weeks for a while. Best Eric
Can you elaborate on the difference in handling? Or is it the obvious, F12 smaller, tighter handling, more fun vs the FF, estate car comfort, luxury?
My Maserati GranTurismo has more of a luxury GT interior than the F12. Especially with the air vents on the dash. It's my only complaint about the car.
I was just kidding about the Enzo, that's a different plan. I'm not familiar with the Maserati, I will go take a look. Sounds corny but it's fun to be back in the car game, looking at them. When my back was bad, I just gave up on cars, was to depressing, knowing that I couldn't enjoy them. Now I can again!! I like the vents in the f12, they are not plastic!! I have a couple things that I'm not happy with in the f12, since this is a f12 thread. Of course no car is perfect, life would be boring if there was a perfect car. While I enjoy listening to a 12 cylinder moter, I have 7 of them now, maybe 8-don't know what's in my Rolls. I'm not happy with the music in the f12, I get board listening to a motor all the time. On long drives. The f12 I bought has the better system in it, but it's not very good. So that needs attention. I will fix this when I return home, Also the high center of gravity takes a bit of fun out sharp corners, The trade offs are very small compared to the things I enjoy, Sorry for my poor grammar today, I don't feel 100%.
