    Great post Steve.

I was actually referring to (yet another) Electrolux Countach, this one red/tan with silver wheels, and silver pin-striping to match the wheels.

The pin-striping on your car was nicely done and suited its character. Thanks for sharing!

The ex-David C Downdraft originally delivered in RHD spec via Portman Lamborghini on George Street, London, now resident in Australia, as imaged last week.

    Bianco Perlato/Bianco, a much-enjoyed car.

Here is another unit for consideration.

It is a 7256 that was in my Jalpa. A couple years ago someone on another site had mentioned that their 5000QV downdraft had a 7256 in it. I'll see if I can find the post.

Interesting thread. Please inform which leathers were used during DD and Countach production.

    Ben,

Paratelli holds the key to that question:

Speaking of the interiors on the Countach. Just curious if anyone else has used these folks. Jason used them when he restored the interior of his '86 5000QV. They came highly recommended by the Vintage Lamborghini folks.

Here is a shot of the perforation work they do:

    Joe,
    yes please ask.

You are the "Bible" man and surely the one to open the door into Sig. Paratelli's leatherland.

Surely he did not produce the leather.

Did he only trim Counties (for the factory) or even other interesting cars at that period way back then for car factories ?

    Cheers
    Ben

Correct, he did not produce the leather, but for sure he had a hand in the selection of the leather-type.

That said, the original type & finish can be duplicated, it all depends on how much time & effort an upholsterer puts into this.

I'll bet Paratelli did many other makes & models besides the Countach.

Yes i agree. It is the different manufacturers of leather (Connolly, Franzi, Rosner and others) and their trade names/brands, different thickness of the leather, gloss, etc.

We need to know more about it. I am keen to hear what Sig. Paratelli will reply to you.

Yes and no, it is not the upholsterer, it is the producer of the leather.

Leather is a natural product and each hide is different. Think how different your hide and my hide were, if somebody would make hides from our skin...

It can be made similar in theory. This eventually means a special order, made to sample. And it needs to be made with the same tanning procedures, recipes, etc.

Leather and tanning is much more complicated than most people without background in tanning usually think.

Incidentally, and not just for Countach Downdraft owners, following the manufacture of earlier Pirelli Cinturatos for the Miura, there is a serious effort that is ongoing by a number of interested parties to prod Pirelli into a remake of the legendary P7.

Given the fact that Pirelli relented and remade truly vintage tires in terms of both the CN72 and CN12, there is now no reason that they will not make the P7 next. The issue remains whether they can slot production in as a 2016 tire given current production commitments. I'll keep all posted as I learn more.

Gear ratios in 1985 QV DD using original transmission per Marmiroli's DGM docs
    1 - 1:2,232
    2 - 1:1,625
    3 - 1:1,086
    4 - 1:0,858
    5 - 1:0,707

Gear ratios in 1987 QV DD using ZF transmission per FIA Homologation papers
    1 - 1:2,234
    2 - 1:1,627
    3 - 1:1,086
    4 - 1:0,858
    5 - 1:1.962

The differences appear slight, and I have no idea what this means in terms of drive-ability, someone with a much better engineering mind may wish to comment.
