Magnificent piece Stefan! I just dropped from my chair reading that you owned 17 Mondials! Any next model in mind?
And that is only Mondials. Ask him how many Testarossa and Diablo and more . I always thought he was trying to break a record.
There was a white 3.2 coupe with a chocolate interior that sold recently in Canada that really looked stunning.
. Normally, I'd agree with you. However, I was a young(ish) man when Miami Vice acquired the white TR. That's one of those vehicle moments that will stick with me forever. Number 1 on my bucket list of cars. Similar to the effect that the 1969 Honda CB750 had on me as a young(ish) boy. Seeing that pic, of what to me was the first superbike, left a long lasting impression. Had to get one some 20+ years later, even though the CB750 was by then considered a tame, beginners bike. I've got a Mondial right now (sort of a mini-TR). Love the car and will never part with it. However, there is a TR in my future!!! sid
Another Beverly Hills Car Club especial 1982 Ferrari Mondial Sunroof Coupe for sale #1782915 | Hemmings Motor News Whats up with the driver seat? And is the console modified or just missing stuff?
Looks like the console is missing stuff. Is that a reflection on the front or another problem. Don go ahead and make them a offer. You could have his & hers.
Their cars leave a bit to be desired but I owe my current Mondial to their website planting the seed of actually being able to afford a Ferrari in my head (I went to their site to look at an Alfa Romeo Spider and saw that red Mondial coupe). I did not buy from them however.
Did a double take, at first I thought this was my car that sold for a lot more recently on ebay (not by me but by a flipper). How many black/black 82 sunroof coupes are there? At least 2 it seems. I would think the missing rocker switches, warning light panel, and other console pieces would be very very hard to get. It's possible it runs and drives without them but how does one operate the park lights, windows, sunroof, antenna etc without switches? It appears someone needed those parts very badly and took them off this car to put them on another. Took the radio/cd player as well and a piece of trim for some reason. Strange. Also note the air pump is missing, chrome trim for pax seat, rear carpets, and one wheel is missing its horsie. A/C system has had some modifications. Zero service history. It may be a CA car (undercarriage looks a little rusty for a CA car) but not a "well-loved" car by a long shot.
The folks at BHCC sell a lot of project cars and seem to be pretty honest about their offerings. For a pretty penny as well.
That is parting out a Mondial 8 right now (germanautoparts - I think). I've bought a couple of seatbelts from him to replace mine (which had broken retractors). Having said that, I don't think it's going to be cheap to replace those missing items. And, I have to wonder, why was the PO in the console? Shift linkage problems? Electrical Problems? Switch Problems? Sid
This guy has put a lot into this car, metal side rockers, front end, rear end, interior, wheels, glass engine bay cover, etc, etc. listed now for a buy it now for $33,000. to me it is worth the money and if I didn't already own mine it would be in my garage, Andy
No, seller decided it was worth $43,000. Ferrari : Mondial Convertible Here is an alternative if that one gets sold: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/504061-prepare-shocked-one-one.html Alden
it's gone up $10k dollars in a day! The ebay public voted a bit lower than that figure as an auction. It must be hard when you put so much time money and effort into making something you really want and like to accept that the market prefers originality. Still, some on here like it and I guess that's the thing, it's a niche thing, and someone out there who really likes it will know they couldn't do it themselves without it costing a fortune. Like everything, it's worth what someone will pay.
The VIN number does not check out either, I asked him for the correct VIN and no response. I think this was a Mondial 8, looking at the exhaust grille. That right there knocks $10K off the price. And I saw it in some classified ad listed for $15K which is closer to the real value. However, with today's generation, there's just no telling. Look who they all voted for.
Tempted, but would have to let the 356B & 993 Porsche go and that is not going to happen any time soon, like my Mondial, but love my Porsche's..........
He is very unlikely to get $33 let alone $43. Non-original cars have no collector premium at all. Nothing wrong with a 3.2 front/rear end, if you are going to get rid of the railroad sleepers why did he not stick with something that works? The front end to me looks silly and out of character with the rest of the car. The back end looks hokey as well because he kept the original grille which is butt ugly. The interior is OK except for the head rests which look like they belong on a low rider. I wonder what's going on in the engine bay? When someone gives a reason for selling it's usually bogus. "I have so many of these F cars I just can't stand it". Right.
