Hi, not posted here before but just happened to be browsing the forum looking for exhaust information and spotted this thread. I have not gone back too far on this actual thread but I see you were looking for 76493? I own 76493, a Blue Chario pre ABS 328GTB with tan leather not crema and it is a RHD UK specification car. I hope that helps? Thanks

Gorgeous car! as always, under certain light conditions, Blu Chiaro can be mistaken for Blu Sera.
    Thanks.

With as few of these cars being produced, the GTB owner is a rare and lucky guy/gal.

Love the GTS as well however as an owner I am happy to have acquired one in the last few years.

    Yea!

One of best color combo for 328 in my point of view.

Pity that the steering wheel is in the wrong place

Wow, 76493 showed up a lot faster than I thought it would. Thank you very much.

So it appears 76493 not a North American car. Given that I will remove it from this registry which is for US cars.

It's a great looking car and I'm sure it's a blast to drive.

The total number of US 328 GTB on the registry add up as follows:

    1986 31 cars
    1987 31 cars
    1988 20 cars
    1988.5 18 cars
    1989 32 cars

Which makes a total of 132 cars. In that total, 2-3 cars are in Europe and 1-2 are salvage cars.

The conventional wisdom is that around 250 328 GTB were imported into the US over the production run. That may still be true but after doing this for several years, collecting information and monitoring the market, very few unknown cars have made themselves known, maybe around 10 over the years.

Given that, it's obvious why the market for 328 GTB is so limited.

And even with 130 cars, many of them have not been seen publicly, typically known cars are offered for sale, not unknown cars. So if someone wants to purchase an unknown car, it requires going on a treasure hunt.

If someone wanted to purchase a rare color or a specific GTB, year etc., how would one begin a treasure hunt for an "unknown car"?

The GTB really is a collector/driver Ferrari plus it is so beautiful.

Even at todays prices it is a bargain.

It has the perfect blend of a classic car, design, engineering and beauty plus they are very rare. Oh, and it's a Ferrari!

There are a few methods. Is there a specific car you are looking for?

First, I would construct the full VIN using the Redheaded VIN calculator.

Second, I would do a Google search on the serial number, along with the words Ferrari "328 GTB". Also I would do a Google search of the full VIN.

Next I would order up a Carfax to see where the car has been located. Sometimes the records on the Carfax are old, sometimes they are recent.

Lastly, I would ask people in the last seen region that the car was known to be in if they had seen the car. I have contacted dealers and local reps from FCA about cars I was looking for.

The next car on the list that I am looking for is:

    61731 RC/Beige

    61731, where are you?

Looks fantastic. I am collecting images of every car on the registry and I have added yours to the collection. Perhaps I will be able to collect them all one day.

If you're looking for an unusual color, you'd probably be better off buying a GTB and repainting it. A scan thru the Registry will show you that Red/Black is about it, so your chances of finding exactly what you want are small to none.

THE big drawback to shopping used...

It appears that this car is one that needs to be purchased with this price. That is as long as it passes.

Probably between 71597 and 755xx. I can't get closer than that.

Out of curiosity and willingness to help the register of US GTBs, I have E-Mailed the seller this morning, in German, asking them about the chassis number/VIN. No answer so far...

Answer came from an exchange of Mails with Matthias Urban a few minutes ago: Matthias lives nearby, this US GTB has been positively identified by him, it is:

    ZFFXA19AXH0073953

Any chance Matthias has a date of production? It is right in the middle of a big dead spot in my records between July 87 and Sept 87.
