    Absolutely agree.

However, he might keep this price for the next 2 years and if the Scud market continues to go up, this price may become reasonble. :D

I usually benchmark a range of "asking" prices to gauge whether things are looking up or down, and not necessarily as the end benchmark sale price.

So, having seen a handful change hands in the last few months over the $210k mark and now seeing more and more $220-260 examples starting to pop up, it tells me that upward trend has continued.

From that, I think more likely than not, cars are selling higher than before.

That what the going prices are at, and if it had factory stripes and would of been more,

I don't know what you're trying to say (guessing english isn't your first language, which is okay) but the only reason I would even consider buying that car is because it doesn't have a stripe. And I am in the market for a Scud.

Agree they're going up but this is a 2008 car with over 7000 miles in black, a color that typically sells at a discount. I would guess the sale price would be in the $190ks, not $265k. That's a pretty big gap. Believe me when I say I wish it was worth over $250k.

Yep, black has historically represented the lower end of the range. So I guess if it sells for close to $269 then we might be witnessing a trend towards that next gap up.

I remember when CS' we're hitting the 190-200k mark then in the span of less than 2 months the new norm became 230-299k for prime red specimens...

Marshall Goldman seems to price certain cars very high. That does seem quite high as an asking price. I think certain dealers definitely try to control the market on niche cars.
They have 7 BMW Z8's for sale - 5 of which are Alpina's asking in the high $300k's.
They have 2 918's asking over $1.7 mil! That's double MSRP!

The Jump in CS pricing came right after a 2k mile Russo Scuderia with factory stripe sold for $286k. I think the CS market has plateaued.
There were 3 scuds at Ferrari of Seattle and the white car sold quickly but 08 black (3k miles) for $239k and 08 silver (6k miles) for $229k have sat for a couple of months.
Marshall Goldman typically prices their cars quite high but it's not the real market.

My friend just bought a 2008 Scud (Rosso Corsa with stripes) from a local dealer for $220K with two years warranty (I'm guessing Ferrari power warranty).

How many miles? It seems that the really high sales are for cars with very low miles, like under 5k. These are the ones people are speculating on as an investment (and that won't get driven).

I was discussing buying a red one from my local dealer with 13k on it and I thought there might be a deal in the lower 190's as is. They were asking $207 with a one year warranty.

$220k is really high unless it had hardly any miles.

At this point, I'm waiting for one in an interesting color and I would strongly prefer one without stripes, depending on what the base color is.

Dave, the car is the same car that Sherpa mentioned.
The new owner told me he paid $220K though with two-year warranty, maybe he overinflated the price.

Wow, that's a pretty high price then. Red does sell at a premium. Regardless, rising tide lifts all boats.

Because all of a sudden, buyers pay the dealer more than they're asking even though they can have it for asking? Let's get real here. This is the sort of bs that drives me nuts: someone repeats what they heard someone paid and it becomes fact and whoever spreads the rumor looks stupid and deservedly so.

Here's a fact: the asking price on the window tag on the car was $207k fully serviced with two new rear tires and with a Ferrari warranty. Here's another fact: you could pay less if you wanted to forgo the warranty and even less if you asked for it as is and caught them in time. I said I was very interested. They said come and drive the car. I went to drive it and I was told it was in the shop getting serviced. I said call me when it's ready. I got no call. I called two days later and they said it was sold. Whatever. That's fine. I didn't act quickly and that's nobody's fault other than my own. I'll find another one in colors more suited to me.

But regardless, those are the facts and I don't believe that anyone would pay over asking for a car from a dealership when they can simply have it for asking price. Those are the simple laws of economics.

You are potentially forgetting tax. Assuming 7-9% tax, that is ~221-225k out the door on a 207k purchase price.

No idea of what the facts were here. That said, if you were interested and potentially a buyer at $207k and another guy comes in and is willing to pay more to get it, the dealer will certainly take the other guy's money. Not saying that happened, but a possibility.

I had a similar experience when I was shopping. Dealers acted like they were doing you a favor by calling you back after you expressed interest. Fact is, these cars are in high demand and they know it. I had a Grigio Medio scud that I really wanted sold out from under me with facts similar to those you describe. Do indeed need to act fast.

If I do find one in the right colors and spec, I will act quickly. That said, I don't feel that I need to rush to add a scud. The right one will come along at some point.
