I don't think anyone is losing any money on good Ferrari's, so the answer to your question would be all of them, properly purchased and maintained, of course.

Now, if you want to make money then that opens up a whole range of opinions and options.

    Nice first post, BTW.

1962 250GTO is a good place to start.

They really hold their value. :D

Aside from the obvious choices, the earlier the car, the better chance you have of making/keeping your money. They're called Enzo era cars for a reason.

I would like to buy a Ferrari from a private party becasue it appears the dealers mark up the price as much as 20% from the private party market. Besides Autotrader, what is a good source to find good people selling Ferraris?

    Welcome to the forum!

Look, no offense to you personally, but with the way you're presenting your questions, you will get next to no help at all. Members here are passionate about Ferraris, and very few consider them just as investments. There are hundreds of various Ferrari models produced over a 65 year period - you are going to have to be MUCH more specific about what you want.

Do you just want a Ferrari for investment purposes?
    What's your budget range?
If you want a driving Ferrari - what appeals to you? 1960s V12, late 60s/early 70s Dino V6, 70s front engine V12, 70s mid engine V12 or V8, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s; 4 seater cruiser, 2 seater front engine GT, mid engine V12, mid engine V8, manual trans, single clutch automated F1 trans, DSG dual clutch automated trans... and so on and so on.

Only going to happen with the more money you spend. I'd love to be more specific.. but need more information TO be specific.

You know this forum is abut enthusiasts right? Cars aren't just commodities here. :)

Got $60MM USD you don't need? I think I might know where you could pry one out of someone's hands.

Dino 246 (or 206) can't go wrong there..

TRs and Boxers are heading out of sight...

Bottom feeding a Mondial at $25K, or a 400i.......fully depreciated and good cars with a horsie on the front.

    Welcome!

Just don;t blow your whole budget on the purchase because the first shop to see it will need around $10K, for "stuff"....

This. (Although the entire discussion hinges on your budget.)

We're well into a three-year run-up in prices on relatively common late model Ferraris. They could either continue to rise in price (some have tripled in the last 2-3 years) or there could be a market correction when the music stops and/or as the cars age and the electronics fail expensively. This is the first time that computer-intensive/tech-laden Ferraris have entered the realm of investment, so we don't really know how they'll be viewed in 20 years. We DO know Ferraris of the '50s and '60s are already forever classics. But you won't find any sleepers/bargains.

If you want to buy one to drive, I think F430s with the F1 gearbox are getting to be priced about right. I don't think they'll appreciate, but they are so common that the market hysteria hasn't impacted them as much. Plus they are relatively well-sorted cars, and safe and fast. Not pretty like a 308, but much more user-friendly and probably appeal to a broader market.

If investment is your main focus, and you have a high five-figure or low six-figure budget, vintage or one of the "supercars" (288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, LaFerrari) are the safer long term bets.

Again, the problem is that you posted this thread 5 years too late. I think all the real gains have already been made in Ferraris (other than buying and flipping whatever the newest "special" model is) for quite some time. Porsches as well: the vintage/classic stuff is so expensive now that there's upward price pressure on cars that I wouldn't consider investment material.

I love reading the ads on this site and would look on here when ready to purchase but make sure you do your homework in many other places as many ads on here have ridiculous prices listed or other things mentioned. No one can criticize anything to do with any ad so it is often a biased big love in.

If you feel you need to critique an Ad, do so via PM with the Owner and price haggle. To bash / Dog pile like we all have seen time and again serves no interest to anyone for which this section (Ferrari Ads) was intended other then the select few's personal amusement and Who had no interest/means to purchase.

It would be better to have no posts allowed for the reasons you both posted. I agree with DrewH that those threads are essentially useless now, but they weren't much better with all the snide remarks.
