Since there's not a lot going on in F1 right now besides the same old blather... I figured I'd ask for thoughts on the Rossi/Marquez controversy since there are lot of fans here too.

I'm a fairly rabid MotoGP fan... I'm not a huge fan of Pedrosa since the day he took out Nicky Hayden on his championship chase a few years ago, but beyond that... I like all the riders and just like great racing. But watching this season... it sure does look to me like something was going on between the Spanish contingent. Maybe I'm just seeing it because it's in my head... but from running wide for no apparent reason and letting Jorge through on occasion to seemingly dog fighting Rossi with nothing to gain... it all seemed rather orchestrated to me. I also think in a moment of pure honesty... Lorenzo even made the comment after the final race about how as Spaniards they knew what was at stake. There seems to be just too many little things like that that when taken in total add up to something.

I think Rossi was fair in stating that he's not sure anything would have changed necessarily, but he just wanted the championship fight on an even playing field.

keep in mind that Marquez and Pedrosa would have had to pass JLow in order for Rossi to win the championship... Maybe the spaniards do have a little something going on, but who's to say that the italians did not, Rossi was able to get by Pirro, Petruci, and Dovi with out much of a fight.

I just think that Rossi tried to play politics, as he realized that he needed the Hondas stealing points from Lorenzo, but it backfired. Márquez and Lorenzo are not super-best friends, so probably at first Márquez was not helping him, but after all the s***t that Rossi had stirred, he had reasons to do so in the last race.

IMO, the final outcome was fair: at Sepang Rossi lost whatever moral superiority he could have, and anyway, if he had the speed it wouldn´t matter what alliance the others had.

It was a great season finale, not just for the racing but for the drama too. We don´t have one like that in Formula 1 since the Senna-Prost years.

It was sad to see Rossi spoiling his image by a stupid controversy.
He has really become paranoid about Lorenzo and a "Spanish conspiracy".

The Moderator should move this thread to MotoGP Fans in Other Racing where this subject was dealt with.

Really? We'll never know. Sure he was slower when he got to 4th, but if you watched the race, he was on the ragged edge getting there. How much of his tires were done by then? We'll never know. At the end of the first lap, he was 10-11 seconds behind Lorenzo. Not too different than the end.

These issues are a bunch more complex that your portrayal. Kevin is the Grand Marshal at the AMA flat track event promoted by my friend Steve McLaughlin.I met him whne my client John Ulrich gave him his first pro ride. I'll ask him for a bit of clarification then. Suspect he won't be a definitive when directly questioned.
