Just wanted to say hi to everyone, Shipped this beautiful piece of art over from GA last week! Pretty pleased thus far, is a blast to drive! The only minor issue I have noticed thus far is a vibration sound (almost like a harmonic) between 3500 and 4000 rpms. It sounds like a light rattle from the engine compartment, goes away after 4000. Any ideas? Similar sounds? Thanks!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
welcome to the brotherhood! nice looking car. As to your question... I have the same "vibration" in my 348 speciale as well. haven't been able to find out what it is.
Congrats! Check out the FOG group in the Bay Area. Local drives, meetups, events, and meet a great bunch of Tifosi's to boot.
The sound may very well be a broken weld in the rear light grill. Very common. Has happened on both 348's I have owned. Or something loose in a cat.
You'll love the 348. I just bought one this summer and I have learned so much about the car from all the great FChat people. They really help you, so don't hesitate to ask any questions, you will get good answers from nice people!
That's a very rare care you have, and it looks amazing. I can tell you from experience that there is nothing like having a great Ferrari while young and living in San Francisco! Enjoy it. Hit Highway 9 to SC from 280/84/35 if you haven't already.
Wow thanks for all the props! The color is grigio metallic (gray) Can't wait to attend a local meet, I'll need to take some more photos this weekend, until then here are a couple more... Sweet car! Throw some 360 starfish wheels on that bad boy and it will look even better than that mural-ized speedster! Maybe that sound is a heat shield? You can blip the throttle while standing behind the car with the engine running. Make sure the parking brake is on and working. Grab the shaft at the back of the intake plenums and rotate it back (the only direction it will go). If you can get the sound to materialize, look for something vibrating. If you get the throttle cable misrouted it is easy to put back on the little half circle thingy.
Try this too... lift the engine hood and see if the sound is still there... I'm pretty sure mine as something to do with the hood but I can't isolate what part of the hood is causing it. I've tried putting foam where it all meets in various areas and just haven't found it yet. But I do have a fix for it... just throttle through that troublesome RPM window
I love the stock 348 wheels.....they especially look great on a Mondial. Great color grey for that 348. Congrats.
