This cannot be true as yesterday 375+ was adamant : "FERRARI TO SUPPLY ENGINES TO RED BULL".......

Well...I have posted the "Autosport" link in that thread also, just in case.
Knowing that "Autosport" usually only publishes solid, confirmed, information, I think this closes the speculations.
    But that's only me...

    Yup I agree.

Look at non power circuits how close RBR has come to winning, or during wet weather when all out power won't help much...it wasn't just challenging, if the conditions stayed like that it would have been a 1-2, if not a 3rd renault vehicle on the podium...!

Plus the article mentions they never really canceled their Renault deal either it was always valid for 2016

    You think so?

Sure, I can see Messr's Ghosn & co wanting their pound (kilo? ;)) of flesh, but at the end of the day, it's all about results. And the Cans have delivered the results until recently......

It'll get real interesting if Renault really are coming back.

    Cheers,
    Ian

True. The article drops some hints re cost stating that the price is going up and that 2 sponsors will drop after next season. It certainly isn't going to be a cheaper deal for RB and Renault, whilst interested in results, needs to favour its new factory team. I wonder if they will be forced to rebrand the engines too...?

If Renault come back full-tilt with 'Lotus' RB can be sure to get screwed on the performance side too. Now they are the works team, come next season they won't always get the latest engine updates (just like the MB and Ferrari customers), won't get the best software, etc. All the downsides of being a customer team plus the extra scorn of how they treated Renault. ;) I can't see them lasting past their contract with Bernie unless another manufacturer enters to supply them.

IMO, there is no "forcing" at this level..... The Money & Bernie get together, and they'll carry whatever badge works "best"....

My prediction RBR will exit in 2018 Because by then it will be firmly established that No manufacturer will give them a FULL SPEC engine

RB just have to last until the current engine formula gets ripped up… which shouldn't be very long! Then it's a full field reset and everyone is back in the game.

I think they will leave when their contract is honoured and finished in F1, assuming they are still struggling that time with engine supply.

I'm sorry, but I really don't get this "hatred" of the Cans.

They've been the most successful team over the past years. They've gone from nowhere to solid front runners. Mr M even helped Bernie out by buying a second team.

Sure, they've consistently beaten Ferrari too, which I guess makes them enemy #1 to some here, but Ferrari gets beaten by most of them at different times.

I for one would miss them. It's always a sad day when we lose a team, any team IMO.

    Cheers,
    Ian

It's the sheer arrogance of their management that many don't like.

They are insufferable when they win, and then they are constantly whining when they lose.

They are not good partner, just ask Renault.

If you think Briatore and Dennis are bad, I think the troika Mateschitz, Marko and Horner takes the biscuit!

Frankly, I wouldn't miss these 2 teams at all. I think Mateschitz brought "inflation" to F1 with all his money and he is partly responsible for the excessive budgets now needed.

For me, it's the way they choose to conduct business. "Success" does not equal "good for the sport." It's the same way some drivers are polarizing due to the way they handle themselves and conduct business. Red Bull has not done anything that other teams have not done in the past...they just manage to ratchet it to a level never seen before...

In the past they have given strong advice to other teams...advice that they really should take to heart in their own situation, but they aren't. They have whined, drawn lines in the sand, and threatened to take their ball home so many times that I really just want them to do it. It's clear that a lot of journos, insiders, and fans feel the same way...put up, shut up, or leave.

    I couldn't put it better.

"It's not what you win, but how you win that matters."

Frankly, I cannot recall a team behaving like they do, in victory and in defeat.

Be careful about what you wish for. Only a short time ago Horner's name was being floated as an eventual replacement for Bernie!

The record books disagree with you, they don't say anything about the how!
