Another toolkit thread....

To me, I would Say That the four screwdrivers at left are definitively correct for a late QV, as are the wrenches also. The yellow-handle screwdriver at the right has nothing to do in the tool kit; the pliers are the later model and should not be in the spark-plug tool pocket, but in the larger pocket at the left That This tool roll does not have, as it Is the earlier roll for the lighter pliers model. The spark plug tool should be checked to see if it Is the one for 14mm plugs (18mm Inside crown) and not for 12mm plugs.
So: screwdrivers and wrenches are OK; tool roll itself also, but pliers and roll not matched; spark plug tool to be checked.
Note That the emergency window crank is not here, but some late production QVs tool roll did not have one.

It looks like a very late production 308 QV tool set because of the pliers. Earlier cars have the orange-red silver plated pliers. It's a 308 set as the spark plug wrench seems to be the 14mm one with wider crown. Screwdrivers correct except the yellow piece, which should be just a throw-in daily use tool. Cannot tell the wrench marking, they are correct if "KRAMV". Pouch is correct for QV as well.

 

Although I have a slight doubt on the pliers: they could Be a later (end of the 1990s) replacement model, as the script on the handle is black, and should Be white.
But, as said above by Steven and myself, the roll and pliers are not matched: the roll is period correct but as it does not have the single large pocket for This type of pliers, the earlier, " lighter" plier version would Be correct.
Wrenches should usually be Kravm, but Utema would be correct also, although more rare.

That takes balls to call you up and try to sell you something that he should have been included in the purchase of the car!

 

If the buyer subtracted 500 bucks off the price of the car at that time then it would be fair to now sell it. I know I would take a few hundred off the price.

 

Is that a fact? The wrenches in my toolkit ('85 GTB QV) have Ferrari on one side and Chrome-Vanadium on the other.

Not "Chrom vanadium Kravm", Just "Chrom-vanadium" without a brand ( like Kravm or Utema)?

Only Chrom-Vanadium. No brand. There are pictures of my wrenches in the thread I refer to above.

 

Interesting; I knew of tool rolls having Kravm wrenches with both sides with the "Chrom Vanadium Kravm" inscription (without any side inscripted "Ferrari") but not without the brand of the maker. But as long as thèse are inscripted "Ferrari", they look genuinely OEM to me.

I've seen similar kit as yours with the same type of wrenches that was claimed to be original, I'll search for a picture later.

So now there are three almost identical sets with dark red/brown screwdrivers without white Ferrari lettering, Ferrari/Chrom Vanadium only wrenches, black lettered Ferrari/Kravm and red molded handled pliers plus standard 14/21mm spark plug wrench? Only the pouch different.

We have too many tool kit threads!

 

For tool experts, if you go on ebay now which of all the tool sets for sale is the closest for my 77 GTB? 22063

It's so confusing, so many sets all different all listed for 308.

I'm no expert on carbed cars tool rolls - we definitively need Big Tex input on this - but I would suggest (??) something like this one, with the emergency window crank which is not included here.

The term "emergency" in the factory description of the crank always amuses, I think on the scale of possible emergencies it really should be called the "First-world problems window crank"

 

Agreed Andy; I sometimes hesitate when writing it because "emergency" seems pretty fearful to me, but it seems the "commonly accepted" designation, so that's the one I use.
Would "Auxiliary window crank" be better, perhaps?

well guys, you`d better don`t be so fast in your judgement !

just imagine, you have an accident in which you and your car drop into a lake ...
o.k., o.k. ... just imagine

first, due to water pressure the doors won`t open until the whole passenger compartement is filled with water

second, the window switches and window motors will stop working as soon as the water reaches their level, that is within seconds


so ? ... the "emergency" window crank would come in handy, wouldn`t you confirm ?
(of course, only if it is in the door pocket and not in the tool kit somewhere back in the trunk)

I thought the "emergency" would be being at a drive-through coffee shop and the window motor won't go down fast enough to get the caffeine.
