All I can say is that Ferrari knows that there is and will always be demand and a market for a front engine two seater sports car with a 12 C engine. As well as a large customer base that will pay a premium to own one especially if it is limited like the TDF. I personally would not hold my breath on the demise of the 12 even if it eventually becomes a 12 with some form of electric assist or other mechanical enhancement and seriously doubt that they will abandon it because Ferrari also recognizes the 12 as being central to both their world wide image and history. Even if they have to produce it in even lower numbers going forward due to restrictive emission standards. After all, it will only mean that the customer will have to pay more ......and that has never stopped Ferrari from building and selling cars.

I never meant to say the the GTO was better or even technically in the same league as the TDF. What I am saying is that the 599 GTO is a GTO and will always be worth more long term to a collector than the TDF.

Sorry just to clarify, you are saying it will be always worth more because it says GTO on the back instead of TdF?

As i'm sure that your aware the Ferrari GTO badge is much much more than just a badge and is not given out lightly or often considering the last car anointed with it was the 288 GTO in the mid 80's. So , in my opinion ...Yes.

I think both the GTO and the TDF will do very well $ wise. The GTO because it has proven to be a very raw experience, a very special car but also carries a very special name (while this is warranted is another debate..). The TDF will most likely fare as well as the GTO. It might not be as raw (unknown at this point) and might not be as special as Ferrari said the GTO is (Detuned XX vs Tuned F12) but it is most likely the last front engined V12 without any hybrid power (whatever the future will bring).
    The name isnt bad either.

Also the market nowadays is much more hot than when the GTO arrived. So i see the TDF raising very fast to $700-$800k where GTOs are.

Right you are. Don't forget, Ferrari's heritage is front engine NA V12.

They will continue to make V12 motors- BUT- it will be with some kind of help. Everything I hear says it will be turbos.

Do you think the "TDF" moniker is "Just a badge"? I don't.

Don't think this car isn't a product of the XX program. It very much is! Have a read of the initial reviews- the journalists are having a bit of a time with the car- reminds me a lot of the initial reaction to the GTO.

In the long run I think equalizing for time, the TDF and GTO will likely both do very well. Both will have pros and a cons. Both will be sought after.

I hear turbos, but I also hear that the days of the V12 are limited...

Today it is in Dick Lovett's website (wasn't yesterday) though no photo yet. Spec and details match, but how did you know yesterday? Only because of the colour?

OK, you knew the car from DB. Thanks.

Rosso Monza is an intriguing shade for me, seems like it had a short lifespan in the middle to late '00s. Any pictures welcome.

The Yellow Ferrari's and specifically the GTO works exceptionally well with the balance of the two tone livery. Normally, I'm not a fan of yellow but this GTO would be a no brainer for me! A very "easy on the eyes" GTO to me! :)

Wow. Have you seen and heard the car to make such a statement let alone driven it? It was widely reported that the factory was calling it a GTO during development and many GTO owners that are getting one are beyond themselves believing Ferrari went WAY beyond what the 599 dared to do. They are on different stages for sure just not in the same order your thinking.

We ALL need to reserve judgment on the TDF until new owners have seat time. I'm 100% certain the TDF will be spectacular both as a challenging driver and with respect to aural sensations. I do find it comical that ALL GTO and TDF owners pre-purchased their steeds before any review of the car by a magazine let alone real seat time. I'd also observe that 5+ years ago when the GTO came out it was widely delineated as THE best drivers car ever to come out of Maranello (besides being the fastest at the time). I think the magazine reviews on the TDF are much less flattering than they were on the GTO except with respect to the aural sensation (ie. the sounds emanating from the killer TDF engine). Seems as if the TDF, like the GTO, is an incredibly difficult car to drive at the limit (by design). I'm certain that new owners who put the seat time into the TDF (like the GTO) to learn how to drive them will be rewarded with an incredible experience that is both challenging and unforgettable. If I could get one at MSRP I'd take a TDF allocation in a heartbeat and put her to sleep at night next to her GTO cousin. I was unable to obtain a TDF allocation and so I'm "stuck" with just my GTO. Maybe after the TDF is out for 2-3 years I will be able to obtain one. In any event, I think ALL of us must reserve judgment until we get some dual GTO and TDF owners who compare their beasts to each other in the real World - both track and street.

They're building 800, or so - so not crazy-rare. Maybe alert your dealer/FNA to your 599 GTO-backing posts, and perhaps they'll dole out a tdf for you as an ambassador to the model?
