I think I can make a pretty strong argument that Peter S, Vijay, and even the Baby Cans are all of Kens ilk. Sir Frank was there not so long ago too. Attract a decent sponsor or two and a PU supplier *other* than Honda (!), and many things can, & often do, change. Hopefully, Mr Haas comes out of the blocks well - Ferrari power doesn't seem like a bad bet right now.
Haven't watched the race yet so I can't fully comment. But I am very surprised by totos comments basically implying Lewis must hold station so nico can get second in the championship. Better for the fans if drivers can run their own strategies
I admire him for wanting to win even though he has the WDC wrapped up. You can argue that two ways, folk are complaining there is no proper racing Hamilton wanted to challenge Nico, the team for obvious reasons didn't want him to. Your dislike for Hamilton is tainting your logic.
They also switched to 3-stops because Vettel did. Had Seb stayed on a 2-stopper, Merc would have done likewise. Regarding Max, he's pushing the envelope on some of his passes. He may start seeing extra-wide cars if he continues to bully past other drivers.
They had this strategy all year long...As long as Hamilton was in front after Qualy or turn 1 in the race he won because he is the better driver, now that it is Nico winning it is called team orders all of the sudden...now tell me who has tained logic
Ok if you want to defend your logic, who is the quicker driver Hamilton or Nico ?..yes you can look up the history when they were in Karts together if you wish, when you have got back to me on that, tell me why Merc should not back that driver..
What are you talking about??? What has the Brazil GP to do with Kart history??? Mercedes did not invent this strategy with both cars coming in within one lap this weekend, they had it all the year. That meant that once Hamilton was in front Nico had no chance to get by due to different strategy either...Nobody of you thought that this was unfair in any way and always said Hamilton was quicker in Qualy and that is the reason why he is the deserved winner. Now it is the other way round and Nico wins Qualy and the race because he does not make a mistake and Hamilton is not getting by with DRS and all of the sudden it is the team backing Nico and not allowing Hamilton to pass with a different strategy??? And then you argue with "history of kart racing"???
I do not understand the question and much more do I not understand what this has to do with the same/different strategy in the race???
Past performance isn't a guarantee of future success. Presently, Rosberg is on form and Hamilton isn't, relatively speaking. If that was not the case, Rosberg would not be taking poles away from Hamilton. Mercedes has always favoured the driver ahead in the race. That's why pole and turn 1 has been so important. Hamilton is clearly an excellent driver, but he doesn't look focused or comfortable at the moment. Perhaps fewer late nights out would be advisable... and that might also spare his LaFerrari the same misfortune as his Zonda. All the best, Andrew.
+1 Something else that's pretty much always been that way - You get ahead in qualy/the first turn, the race is yours to lose. Ouch! Very true, but still 'ouch'! But yeah, I agree, LH just doesn't quite seem to have his head on correctly right now. No idea why - he's the WDC after all, but from the peanut gallery it sure looks like Nico has the upper hand at present. That maybe because Lewis has 'relaxed', but it sure doesn't come across that way. Hopefully, Ferrari at least can mount more of a challenge next term. Cheers, Ian
You are right, I was not thinking. Self imposed ban for 1 week for feeding the troll. Talk with you all in 7 days, I should have known better, shame on me.
LOL ..About the time I joined F-chat there was a lady on here called Carol, Hamilton was a unknown to me, however she posted on here to watch out for him, he will be a a force to be reckoned with, she followed his early career and realized she was watching a special driver in the making, IMO she was bang on. I don't think Hamilton has lost any focus/form as such, otherwise he wouldn't have shown any frustration on letting Nico win, but sit back and and rest in the knowledge he has another WDC, to add to his trophy cabinet. I will say it again Nico is a very quick driver especially in qualifying always has been , the margins are small between the two, but that little difference overall in sheer race pace and recovery drives, is tipped Hamilton's way IMO, and as shown in the history of them racing together Hamilton has that little extra IMO. He can never win on here though, understandably so, a very hard pill to swallow for some, and that just about sums it up.
Sure it does. You really think Maranello is going to give Haas the same motor it gives it's own team? Dream on. There is no way in the world a Ferrari powered car will ever challenge their team cars. This is why Mac went with Honda. They felt they would have the same problem with Mercedes. F1 has stopped being "a sport". Its just money and politics now.
What a boring race. It was a midnight race for me, and after 1 hour, i called it off, only to guess right-merc 1-2, Ferrari 3-4. Even Kimster was bored, and was looking to finish the race quickly. I really hope next season would be different.
finally watched the race recorded earlier today... highlight of the day: verstappen's pass of maldonado in turn one.
It was not the most entertaining race of the season. But it was good to see that Rosberg was up to Hamilton's game. Lewis has been driving very clever all season when he was in P1 and did focus on Rosberg's race and he could impact it. Today it was the other way around and Rosberg did permit him to cook his tyres nicely. Hamilton whining about not being able to overtake is as immature as his fanboys here whining about it all having been decided by the team long ago. Yes, the team strategy that driver in 2 must follow same strategy has exclusively been invented during the first 10 laps to protect Rosberg's position (they didn't need such an internal rule all season). And yes, I also heard it was part of their script to make it seem less obvious, they would ask Ham and Rosberg to get really close in turn 1. The team has defined some boundaries but wants them to race freely within these. For Hamilton and all his nasty mind games it would have been the greatest joy, I am sure, to publicly state how he is putting so much effort into protecting his weakling co-driver. Maybe there is indeed hope that Rosberg found what he didn't have in the first halve of the season and we might be able to see a tight 2016, perhaps with one or two Ferraris in the mix.
Hamilton saying he was faster and should have won while Nico instead was just doing a better job than him saving his tyres. Why doesn't this guy shut the xxxx up for once?

Lewis Hamilton: 'I need to understand what changed' - Lewis Hamilton: 'I need to understand what changed' - BBC Sport --Lewis Hamilton said he is going to work hard to understand why he has started losing out to team-mate Nico Rosberg in qualifying. Rosberg won the Brazilian Grand Prix to take his second victory in a row, following his fifth consecutive pole. Hamilton began the year with 11 poles in 12 races, seven of which he won. "Nico drove a fantastic race. Nico has been doing a fantastic job in qualifying. I have to think how things have changed," Hamilton said.-- Id say LH knows Nico is simply driving better.
I really hope you are right maulaf, but unfortunately, when there are championships up for grabs, I suspect toto and his rat will do the same as the previous seasons, turn down nicos engine on the grid if he dares out qualify Elton, and generally undermine his confidence and try to keep him behind their little flouncing primadonna. He was seething yesterday, from the time they got out the car till the cameras went off, he hated Nico winning and he doesn't even have to speak to let it show. I suppose that he was able to tow the team line when interviewed as he already has his title, and he's probably trying to convince himself that merc are somehow favouring Nico for a few races rather than him out driving him.
He has no idea how to be contrite in losing, nor how to be classy. Just a big mouthed moron who will self destruct very quickly when he is losing not only to a teammate with the same car, but to vettel, kimi, bottas or anyone else. It will be back to bumper cars and excuses
+1 I actually fell asleep at around lap 17. First time I have fallen asleep watching an F1 race for a while. Still looking forward to the last race, I LOVE F1. Hopefully Ferrari is winner next year.
