    Need some advice guys.
Early fall I received my brand new Speciale. Almost immediately the brakes started squealing very loudly. I've owned a 599 and a 458 and never encountered such issue. The squealing is really annoying as its quite loud (every damn stoplight, stop sign, you get the picture). My dealer has had the car for 4 weeks now and has tried everything (i.e. bedding etc.). They will now try chamfering the brake pads. The dealer has really tried everything in their power to make it right, and am only grateful. Ferrari on the other hand has completely ignored the problem. Wouldn't even allow the dealer to change my brake pads. They fell just short of saying; its a known issue deal with it. Reading this forum it does seem quite a few people have had this problem. That being said, after waiting so long for the car of your dreams, you can imagine the disappointment when you receive it "flawed". I'm so disappointed with Ferrari right now, and their complete lack of customer support, that I feel like not doing any more business with them.
Am I overreacting? Should I do like Ferrari says, and just deal with it?
    Thanks

This is a well known issue that I have as well. I've bedded the pads which helped some but it comes back. I brake VERY hard a few times and it goes away for a while.

Unfortunately, you are experiencing the "Ferrari Way". I had several much more egregious issues with my Speciale and was told to pound sand and be happy I got the car.

So.. yes, just deal with it and don't let it spoil the pure enjoyment of owning one of the best cars ever made.

Thats what I'm doing. Honestly it shouldn't be tolerated but we all do. I've found that really getting on my brakes at around 80 stops them from doing this for a while. It's more than a little embarrassing pulling up in a Ferrari and having your brakes squeal.

+1, the problem will most likely disappear as the car, and the brakes, get bedded in.

Now stop worrying and enjoy her :D oh and send us some pics!!! :) :)

    very best

Drive her hard. The squeal will go away.

No, it will be always squealing. Bedding in or driving hard will only stop it temporarily. It's something you have to get used to when driving a car with ceramic brakes

Agreed. And Ferrari and the dealer will not acknowledge that it is common.

Had the same issue with my Porsche PCCB and the 458. They just squeal - it's a common issue with all ceramics.

I find that if you either brake lightly towards a light or rather hard, the squeal is less noticeable. Middle down the fairway is when it squeals most.

8500 miles in mine now and it comes and goes. It is what it is.

I had my Speciale for 9000miles an changed brakes many times as I'm going on track days. First time i heard the noise was when the car rolled out of the Ferrari store!!
Ferrari are really not taking any responsibility.
I have tried everything but it comes and goes..
Ferrari have better pads for track use.
( Pagid pads are exactly the same and a lot cheeper)

If you want it to stop my advice is to grind a line in the pads 2-3 mm deep.

    On track
Advice is to cool brakes after going on track at least 2 laps.

    Sold the Speciale last week

Great now my brakes (might be suspension) are making noise too.

However mine are squeaking and rattling in the front left. When I step on the brakes, the sound goes away. Sound is coming from the front left.

Break hard 4-5 times from 250 km/h to 0 km/h. This will stop the noise.

So, Ferrari's (as well as other hi performance vehicles with Ceramic rotors) require you to change your driving to a more "track oriented" style to maximize the stopping potential and to reduce the noise.

Most people apply brake pedal pressure softly at first then harder as you approach the corner and/or intersection.

If you're on the track you do the exact opposite, super firm at first and roll off the pedal as you approach the turns.

Now doing this on the public streets is problematic but you can adjust your style to minimize the squeal without causing accidents or endangering anyone.

If you try it, the squeal will most likely go away or be greatly reduced.

Bottom line, just deal with it as Ferrari says.

It's a track oriented vehicle. Brake squeal, loud exhaust, echoing rock chips, and poor air conditioning is all part and parcel of the package.
For more comfort and cabin serenity, a standard 458 or 488 would be a better alternative. The brake sqeal on high performance CCB is not a poor quality issue!

Just life with carbon ceramic brakes. I track another car (2011 Turbo S) with carbon ceramics and the squeal does go away after a track day but after driving it for like 50 miles on the street the squeal just returns.

Just think of it this way…every time you stop people will look over so see what POS is stopping and needs their brakes fixed…and then when they see the car their jaw will drop…

This is not particular to ceramic brakes.. most don't squeal at all. My FF doesn't squeal, nor did my 458 or 430.

This is a problem with all high performance brakes.. ceramic or not and any track rat that spends Fridays and Mondays swapping out their pads for track days knows this.

My steel race pads squeal like a stuck pig on the road.

I get exactly the same problem. When I ma on track it doesn't happen, on the road the the brakes are cool it happens and sometimes really badly. I have found some spirited driving to reduce it for a little while but think t he problem is when they are cold. I'm going to give mine a good spanking tonight and see how it progresses...

Mine too now. After my first track day and now they squeal. First 2000kms no problem, wondering if I should have bed them in after all? Figured track day would do it anyway! Oh well, appears to be the style of the car after reading your posts. Will give her a good drive in the am and see how it pans out. Engine is right on song though :)
