Thanks...I was not confusing them, I was saying 0842 parts became 0862 or 212E. I guess that was not the case.

I see. I've never heard that rumor. The conventional narrative that I'm familiar with is that new and unsold 206 S chassis #020 was renumbered to 0862. This new chassis, of course, would go on to be the basis of the Sport 2000, 250 P5, and 212 E.

But you're right--this is a picture thread! Here's an interesting (and relevant) one:

I read that 212E had an early 1965/1966 Dino chassis to start with.

What in the first factory shot makes Marcel not think it was #0842 as a spider since it was taken in July 1967? Part of my confusion was that I thought the spider in the photo was #0842. I am not questioning his wisdom just asking.

Marcel, it was stamped "275 LM" and not "250 LM" ?

The more I look at this photo the more I think it might be 212E under construction with it's first body(rear end still is not cut off at the bottom yet). It was late July 1967 and 212E tested in October/November 1967. That would also go along with the new chassis idea wich makes sense. I do not think it is #0842 anymore. Whatever it is this factory shot is a rare and great find. The only question is the side ducts are not the same, but they might be there with red covers over them. Sorry for going on about this, but it's very interesting to me. It could also be 022, and Marcel is 99.999% percent of the time right, but their are some questions about that still.

Günther Klass before the accident. Seems that there is something on the air ducts. Same in the color photo at the factory. I think the factory photo is before Mugello.

So that picture I posted might be #0842 testing and the factory photo #0842....I give up!!

Nivelles-Baulers, Belgium - 1976 FOC GB / Ferrari Club Belgio meet I believe.

Posted with the kind permission of the copyright holder.

    - 365 GT 2+2 c/n 12175
    - 365 GTB4 Daytona c/n 13931 (reg KMJ 2, with - I presume - Mr Peter Stubberfield at the driver's door)
    - 365 GTB4 or GTS4.... either c/n 14397 or 15841 (I'm sure someone can confirm whether it was DMS's second Berlinetta or his Spider that wore 'DMS 55' in '76...).

The couple standing up with sunglasses on are Reg and Brenda Wright.

Mason-Styrron seems to have shuffled his various "DMS" plates from car to car.

I do agree that the color photo shown in post #9233 and then again in #9264, car in the foreground, is NOT chassis #022 but rather #0842. The air intakes are covered indeed, see also these pix of #0842 here. Athanase and TheDevil (a.k.a. Rocco1949) were right.
    Sincere apologies for my mistake.

I've just remembered the story of DMS acquiring c/n 14397, so I'm certain this is c/n 15841. Prancing horse in the grille also tallies with the Spider.

The official type designation was "250 LM", to my knowledge "275 LM" was never used by the factory.
