The Swiss billionaire owner (and NOT Talacrest!) has it currently overhauled at Bob Houghton's in the UK.

Many thanks Marcel for clarifying, not many "swiss billionaires" existing, therefore easy fix for anybody interested to check it.

After all it is clear that the Talacrest ownership report isnt clear, nor is the mileage.

"Unless you bring at least $ 25 M to the Swiss billionaire owner."

So according to this it is for sale. I am not offering but does 25.5 M take it?

For those of you who have asked if I had a picture of the drums in the car, sorry but I don't.

But here is the picture of the actual set that was carried around all those years in that beautiful little Ferrari :)

    Cheers,

    Bill

    Slingerlands!

Cool. Nice that you still have them. Love it when the white marine pearl ages nicely...

Kick is 18" Leedy traded a buddy for my 20"Leedy.

Had to fit in the passenger seat :) haha who knew ?

This was the time that Slingerland had bought Leedy so technically this is a Slinger-Leedy set.

    Cheers,

    Bill

PS... My friend kept asking for his 18" kick back he said it sounded so much better then the 20". I have to admit he was correct :)

    Hi,

Are those (in the photos) supposed to be obvious drummers?

The first one looks to me like Philthy Animal Taylor (Motörhead) and the second one could be Bill Ward? (Black Sabbath) but not sure what Ferraris they have (or had).

Nick's collection is simply mindblowing, I have seen a couple of his cars (at Goodwood) and just love the fact that he drives and races them.

Kare showed me a photo some years ago that also told the story behind his early obsession of racing Ferraris. His dad raced a Ferrari in Mille Miglia already in the early fifties. Big respect! :)

And sorry if I got something wrong with the drummers. I've always been a big fan of drummers and thank you Bill for sharing the photo of your kit. Yes, bigger is not always better, although some (like John Bonham) insisted on a huge kick drum! :p

    Cheers!

    Hi Pekka,

I didn't know Nick's dad Bill Mason raced. I'd only known his reputation as the filmmaker of Shell's History of Motor Racing series. There's a lot more about his passion for cars (that he passed on to Nick) here: Bill Mason - Telegraph

    Hi Dave,

Sorry, I may have made the wrong assumption. (would not be the first time)

I could not find the photo now anywhere, but it was from Mille Miglia, possibly 1953, showing a Ferrari and two gents in overalls, holding helmets, gloves etc. The other one looked like a raving driver and the other one tall, round glasses, curly hair standing up, more a professor type, said to be Bill Mason. So it is possible he was there only for film making purposes and did not race. But enthusiastic he must have been, and was able to pass it on just like you wrote. :)

    Cheers,

    Pekka T.

Yep, same shells, but the Leedy lugs are much prettier.

18 inch Leedy bass drums are rare birds! Worth a lot more than the 20's, nowadays...

Those are both pics of Robert Garvin, drummer for heavy metal band Cirith Ungol. Now take another look at who posted the photos. ;)

    Hi Wayne,

Somehow that's what I was afraid of (obvious to some, but not to me).

Anyhow, now I know more, and I think I can make a safe bet that at least he does have a Ferrari. :) and hope he will not be offended by my ignorance nor the (wrong) references I made. :D

    Cheers!

    Peeka, and all,

Not offended at all. I was just commenting on the apparently drummers like Ferrari component.

I am a hardcore Ferrari guy and their is an article about my car in Forza 139. I have started playing drums again after 24 years of retirement, and cant tell everyone how much I missed it. I quit and swore an oath never to touch another drumstick as long as there were scumbags in the music business. For these 24 years I have been somewhat tortured I could not play, and I sort of put all my passion into Ferrari which I loved my whole life. Ironically our current record label which is honest, and fans have encouraged me to play again. I envy Bil on many levels and am worrying if a new set will fit in my home let alone the Ferrari! Ha

Here is an article on a "new" GT4 I am getting:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/479384-robs-new-ferrari-308-gt4-adventure.html

Actually I am honored that you thought I looked like Bill Ward which is one of my favorite drummers. The photo of me is a promo shot, and I wished I looked that good still! HA!! We are mainly known in Europe and I even ask interviewers to put a picture of the Ferrari in the article as a condition for the interview!!!! He is one.

    Sincerely,

    Rob

PS not trying to hijack the thread. I have been following this car for over 30 years seeing it at the Santa Barbara Concours 25 years ago!
