Without insinuating anything it is for sure very easy to get more power out of a turbo charged engine! Not so easy from a naturally aspirated one.

My own experience is that when we did acceleration tests from 100 kph
my LF pulled away from my P1. We also swapped cars but same result.
It seems the P1 in the Harris test looks to be a really powerful one. And what happened to the P1 understeer that I have on Corsas? It understears really heavily. Different suspension set up?

Wonder why Harris used Trofeo when they ran together. Kind of distorts the wonderful video. If Franchitti had not let them by he would easily have stayed out in front.

And finally when they ran together it would have been brilliant to keep on going to see which car loses its battery charge first! And what that means for the laptimes! Lost opportunity.

As an owner of all three, what one would you put your money on in a lap?

Paulo, here's the Iranian ethnic breakdown from the CIA website information on the country of Iran.

As for the Persians I referred to, I think you overlooked this fact, the Persians I know are living in the US and Canada, not the Persians living in Iran. Many Iranians fled or left Iran after the Shah was overthrown. You need to make a distinction between ethnic people living outside vs. inside their countries of origin.

I hope you have it straight now. ;) I apologize for my reply to an off-topic remark.

In the three recent tests, Harris was the only non-professional driver. He produced different results compared to the pros. This shows that he couldn't extract the maximum out of the other two cars. His test was driver-limited.

Oh OK now I get it. Thanks for pointing that out. What matters is that the ones who fled now live better lives and have freedom and hopefully are happy.

Thats a tough one, but I guess it would be the 918. Its big advantage is that it is unbeatable out of corners. And off a race track the traction advantage is even more noticeable. So overall it is for me the quickest of the three.

That said the LF and P1 are more fun to drive. Let's face it these cars are not made for the Chris Harrises and co of the world, they are made for the owners. I have always wondered how journalists can judge these cars by driving them for a day. You need much more time to understand them. And very few of the owners can nor probably don't even want to exploit the potential of the car to the max. Doing events in the cars is great fun and on back roads they are brilliant. It's not only about circuits.

So all these videos and comments are nice to talk about but honestly I don't really want to be over 300 kmh on certain sections of the Nurburgring because at that speed the smallest error means you are toast. 270kmh there is enough. 😂😂😂 I much prefer SPA and similar circuits for these cars because you can go fast much more safely.

And as I have said before as strange as it may sound Franchitti is right: you need all three.

Member at another forum states his WP 918 vbox'ed 0-200 kph in 6.94 seconds and 0-300 in 18.4 seconds. Just figured I'd share. Brutally quick. For reference he states a CGT on the same track/same day took just over 30 seconds to hit 300 kph.

When I think that's about 4 seconds quicker to 200 kph than my 458 I don't even know what it would feel like. But from what I've read somehow I imagine it feeling more controlled than flooring it in the 458 despite the acceleration difference.

After having experienced the LF, P1 and 918 my 458 Speciale despite the fantastic Noise and Balance is like slow motion! The 918 on backroads will shake off everything and anything.

A lot has been written about the GT3 RS. It no longer gives me the kick it used to. In Feb getting the 991 GT3 RS. Let's see how that feels. Of course thes cars are fantastic and blindingly quick but in comparison to the HyperCars adrenalin rush they cannot compete.

Well that's just the way it is. That's progress.

The 458 Speciale will give the mighty Enzo a run for its money. In 5 years time the 488 successor will probably be as fast as the LF. Driving the CGT now is also kind of normal. When I got it it was just mind blowing. The newly developed tires have tamed it just too much. Am very glad it does not have a sequential gearbox. That is what ruins the Enzo experience.

The car that still terrifies me is my yellowbird. We put it on a tester and it pumped out just over 550 HP! The F40 does the same and I am sure the MCL F1 is still pretty exciting.

If I really want pure motoring I take me 356 Speedster with its Reile performance engine out. That is still pure fun.

It is strange how one gets used to more power! Was looking at a really nice Challenge Stradale today. Just think how that compares to the 458 Speciale. It sound ballistic but looses out on every other technical aspect.

At the end of the day everyone has different preferences. Main thing is to have fun and enjoyment from our hobby!

Supermafy - thank you for response.
I would say that the F40 is the ONLY Ferrari which had even more power in customer guise than Ferrari have ever quoted... UNTIL... it was catalysed and sent to the USA where....

REALZEUS! (I love arguing with you. As soon as you own one these cars, the scales from your eyes WILL fall. Mine did. Anyway back to arguing).

    REALLY?

Let me give you REAL experiences based on actual ownership and experience. Not magazines.

    My 360CS dyno-ed below 390bhp - Ferrari quoted 420bhp

My 430 Spider - didn't exceed 168mph at Vmax - that was NOT the quoted top speed. It wouldn't even pull to the rev limiter!

In fact this 430 Spider which was a immaculately maintained didn't make 440hp!

My 355 dyno-ed 323bhp!!!! (still my favourite car)

My friends F50 dyno-ed 498bhp. (My friend = 456MGT on pistonheads so you can verify) post £31,000 service (!) with complete engine port and head cleaning!)

My current 430 Scuderia is 11bhp short of Ferrari's quoted 503hp

    My personal experience with Porsche
    My 996GT3 RS dyno-ed 408hp. vs Porsche's 380hp quote.
My 996GT3 made 387bhp vs Porsches 380hp quote.
My friends Carrera GT made 667bhp (!) vs 612hp quoted by Porsche (amazing really and inexplicably good).

For kerb weights - please make reference to Bill S's weight/acceleration thread in this section.

Ferrari have historically talked 5hit about performance, power and weight. Simple. That may have changed now they've been sued by a few anal German customers but they exaggerated a LOT before.

Now, Realzeus - what are your "non-magazine-read" power output experiences with these brands? DO TELL.

P.S. Ref the Chris Harris video. The P1 beat the other cars on the day fair and square. And those cars were factory supported no? I can't see the big deal. I'd have the Ferrari all day.
Fact is, it's NOT the fastest in ANY test....

FYI - an owner friend of mine tells me that customer 918's are making close to 1000hp now post developmental tweaks etc.

Can anyone verify or have any feedback?

@Murcielago_Boy: I have personally seen 203 mph on the speedo in the 430 coupe (about 197 on the GPS) on a flat road and the car was still pulling when I had to let go. Perhaps there was something wrong with yours? Also all the other numbers that Supermafy mentioned were recorded by customer cars and verify the manufacturer's claims. Have seen similar numbers at different track days myself. You cannot always reproduce the perfect conditions needed, but they were usually close enough.

Around 930-940hp based on actual acceleration figures. On my car in e-mode, I clocked 0-60 in 5.0s, which is 1.1s faster than what Porsche claims.

From talking to owners who have vbox'd their cars the 918's are running sub-2.5 seconds to 100 kph consistently, sub 7 seconds to 200 kph and around 18 seconds to 300 kph. No idea how much more head way Porsche can still make in performance but these numbers are so impressive it has to be close to tapped out.

Couple things. Why mention the speedo speed at all when you saw the GPS speed 6mph lower? That looks about right for top speed of a F430 coupe but note Murci boy I think was quoting speed in that Vmax event, which is (despite the name) not going to be the top speed of any of those cars...

I really don't think it is disputed by most that Ferrari is overly optimistic with their specs. Porsche is overly pessimistic, as a general rule.

They should check that dyno. No way that ANY manufacturer would give 50 bhp for free. 50 bhp in a NA car is a lot of money.

I'm dealer, owner and mags (road test) collector. I still say that all manufactures use particular care with cars used for testing. If Murcielago Boy had explained his experience with dynos, failing much more with Ferraris than Porsches.. I can say that also there are honestly several doubts on many Porsche road test around the world. This happens far all manufactures.. Here in Italy there were the 997GT2 and CGT road test very funny! In UK there was a 996 Carrera 2 road test so crazy! And many many other examples. Was it honest to test a SL55 with SLR engine being that SL55 a engine mule car? The orange Aventador press car was faster than the last SV press car tested, exactly the same conditions, is that right? (I can go away till tomorrow).

Yes a dyno it's an indication for sure, LamboBoy I agree with you but in the example above, neither is it right that a Carrera GT was tested at 0-1000 meters at 19.42s in summer like in the Italian test or a 996 Carrera 2 timed at 22.8s like the UK test because do not belive at these times not even the big moron of the world.
Dario Benuzzi did a 19.55 with the Enzo during the homologation, the car was a development car, it was lighter and powerful that the definitive Enzo for production. The Carrera GT tested was faster than that factory Enzo.
There are many road test of 993TT/996TT that are fast as the 996 Carrera 2 tested in UK, we are talking of turbo 911 with over 400hp and a normal 996 did the same times.
Ok Porsche dynoed by customers may be more accurate in your experience but nor it is right to belive that s**t above.

manufacturers measure engine power on a bench dyno directly from the crankshaft with engine out of car

owners/mags are putting the car on a 'rolling road' which gives an estimate with drivetrain losses.

so why would anyone expect their personal dyno data to be same as factory data?

Agree but last modern dyno systems are really accurate. Example Maha dynos are used by manufacturers for checking power before the delivery with engine yet installed. A mag here tested one of these dyno comparing figures on engine dyno before and Maha dyno later with tolerances within 1% between them. No bad.
