Rare C&F Dino 246GT for sale - UK

No affiliation to this but a very rare 246 C&F GT is up for sale and by all accounts its close to selling for a considerable sum of money. Possibly a UK record.

I am led to believe.....Some say £500K, others £600K

I should of never sold my USA flares and chairs coupe, 1 of 5 for the USA. Oh well!!

 

I should have bought your 206 when it was offered to me for $75K then $120K then $150K! Oh well!

I remember Tom saying "it is an old clapped out Dino".

At the time, that spoke a lot. However, at that time a 206 was considered the bottom teir of Dino's

Gorgeous colour.

 

The Classiche emblem on the as tray looks ridiculous.

 

Should be about 1/4 the size with jewel-like cloisonné detail. The plastic Classische badge looks like a cheap belt buckle. At least this belt buckle is metal!

Absolutely agree! I wonder, if you took it back for a new Classiche it would now fail due to the nasty, non-original plastic badge stuck on the ashtray...

Minor points, I think whoever buys it can afford to remove it if they wish.

It looks a good car from what I can see, pity about the door card screws but I cannot believe its an "original " car. ie never been restored! Bold claim for a 40+ year old car

Interesting the advert says 1 of 5, when that number has been previously associated with US spec numbers.

Interesting low mileage claim.

If that Classiche badge is plastic, that is even more crap.

This Dino raises a couple of questions. If an original C/F car, why :

Do the wheels not show "Dino"?

Does the vinyl not have the typical Dino grain?

Why is the leather so shiny?

What is up with the steering wheel?

The battery shut off switch?

How about the paint? Where is the crazing from the lacquer?

I hate the speakers, but have already said that. I am not certain here.

22 RDH 246 GT with flares, but not have chairs (Daytona seats)...
Many original Campagnolo rims didn`t have the Dino script, especially on European cars...
rare beige 430 vinyl Daytona seats...
steering wheel is correct...
I hate the speakers too, but easy fix as Luppi provides the original beige 430 door panels...

Personally I think the low mileage works against the car, think of all those seized parts suspension, linkages, bearings etc etc. Unless cared for properly it will be a nightmare to re-commission. The history file must be sparse

The battery isolator is incorrect for the year, the internal contacts oxidise and fail so its normal to replace them. (they can be cleaned) The period part was the Lucas battery isolator and is still made.

My car doesn't have the Dino wheel logo so all good there I guess.

The car must have been restored at some stage, 40+ years old I would be amazed if anyone could T cut the paintwork to that quality.

Some minor issues but overall its a good car, I worry about how it would drive though.

could these go to £1m, in time I guess and believe they are on par with the 206 in desirability, however each to there own as some just don't like the flares. I personally don't like the 206.

Knowing the first owner of # 05454 for couple years does somebody knows where the car is now ,he also owned 2 other 246 GT (one of them is #01276) and at least one Dino 308 GT4 (#?) was there on a rallye -Bugatti in 1976 with number 69.

I'm in somewhat agreement. I "like" 206's, just not "in love" with them as much as a 246. I've had many opportunities to buy one when they were affordable. 206's have beautiful details when up close. I've always felt that the 206 proportions suffered with the shorter wheelbase. For me, the 246's extra 2" in wheelbase behind the cabin just gives them the perfect proportion and a more "cab-forward" look. I know this is subjective and many will disagree. Just my opinion. On F&C Dino's, most people don't see the Flairs as a "first read", they see the wider stance which compliments the Dino. Probably why a lot of owners just put on the Campys.
