Level5 assets have been for sale for a while. The transporters and race cars, anyway.

Despite the settlement with AMG, ST (and others) remain as defendants. This will go on for a while. In this instance, I wish I were his defense counsel!

This is actually the big one....IF they succesfully land RICO charges, the claw back will be horrific.

Wire fraud. Don't forget wire fraud. Oh and money laundering. Can't forget money laundering. Racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering.

RICO is indeed serious business. And, all the other charges that normally accompany.

ST's in for a long and EXPENSIVE battle...

I had a look at one of the transporters. Very nice. VERY expensive. I definitely think Level5 was on par with the factory teams in terms of the movable circus.

So, are we taking odds on if IMSA will remove Tucker's records the same way
the NCAA did with Joe Paterno?

I dunno, NASCAR cleaned up a lot of the cocaine cowboys, but did not rewrite any results to my knowledge...

Their stuff certainly is/was top notch.

There's still quite a bit of it for sale if the web site is accurate:

Yes. Even in the early days his Ferrari Challenge team had top notch stuff before any of his ALMS efforts.
Hell, the man bought the car maker to win his SCCA class.

Also credited with playing a big part in the rent-a-ride Porsche for gentleman drivers. Heck of an operation he ran and without the smoke and mirrors of certain others. <cough> Buckler <cough>

There's a new podcast episode of "Dinner with Racers" called "The Level 5 Special" that is a must listen of the extravagance that L5 spent in developing some of their race cars.

that episode was awesome. the DSR story is ludicrous.

the entire Dinner with Racers podcast is highly recommended (although it would be much better if it had been a YouTube video series IMO)

That is a great story. Watching it from the outside only, and with the leaks we were hearing at the time, it was certainly over-the-top. Their whole program was. Braun just confirmed it. So, while I certainly respect what ST & Level5 accomplished with a blank check budget, it draws a bit of ridicule for good reason.

Nevertheless, regardless of where the money came from, his and the team's accomplishments stand. And, they were earned. So, to that, I say congratulations. I certainly wish I had had that sort of funding!

Just finished listening to the Level 5 podcast and I was blown away. They had LMP1 levels of development, testing and funding to win an SCCA runoff championship in a DSR sportsracer! 189 MPH at Road America with a laptime that would have put them second on the IMSA grid behind Klaus Graff in the Muscle Milk LMP1 car!

I was at RA during that Runoffs weekend and and supporting my friend Lawrence in his DSR but holy smokes was that L5 car a piece of art. Can't take away what Scott and his team's & programs accomplished but he did draw mixed reviews going for 'that one'.
