Sounds better than what they have now for sure.

 

Now we know where they got the idea from. Now if you increase the water velocity by several thousand then it may get back to what a F1 car should sound like...a screaming V12.

I've yet to hear any v6 that sounds emotional personally. Raising the red lines might help, but that will also raise costs.

They do sound pretty good I suppose, but no turbo, carbs and likely an inneficient exhaust by today's standards. A lot different than modern v6s though no?

The new giulia is suppose to be a v6 turbo also. The early sound clips sound promising.

New ford gt also, although early clips do not sound great, and that engine in the Ganassi prototype sounds similar to f1 engines IMHO.

Why do you think the F1 v6s sound so bad and what is the solution?

 

I don't think they sound 'bad' per se,just not as good as the high revving na motors.

I don't think there's any need for a solution, the sound is a byproduct of how the engine makes power, not an end goal or destination. I think the solution is to enjoy the racing for the racing as a whole and not focus on one small - and to be perfectly honest, inconsequential -element of it. These motors make more power using significantly less fuel, which is much more impressive and important to me than the sound they make. All that noise was wasted energy that they're now recovering to make more power, which is what I value in a race car.

The 3 liter unlimited rev motors were better than the 2.4 rev limited v8's anyway, so why would anyone want to go back to those? For sound? That's ridiculous. To be perfectly honest, the racing world (and the world in general) has advanced. If the pinnacle of motorsport hasn't also advanced, it wouldn't be the pinnacle anymore.

 

That's your opinion, and it's not shared by the majority of motor racing fans.

People don't give a rat's a** about fuel efficiency and energy recovery when they go and watch F1.

They want to see actions on the track, speed, overtakings, drivers battling for position, and most like the atmosphere created by the deafening noise.
Very few are interested in the clever technical stuff hidden deep in the body work, that nobody sees and only the boffins get exited about.

F1 fans are interested in the competition between drivers and teams, and not in energy saving. There are other outlets for the boffins to peddle their stuff.

After 2 seasons of failure, are we still supposed to be exited by a formula that is so boring, so predictable, so unfair, si unspectacular and so lame ?

 

Basically agree. I can appreciate people that are fascinated or applaud the technology and efficiency, it just isn't me. Judging by the fact that the noise is now such a priority to the powers that be in F1, I'm not alone.

Excellent post my friend. I went the first time when they switched to this crap engines, and i told myself i would never attend any more live races till they sort the sound out first.
