The throttle cable broke on 02840 and I got a replacement from Mr Fiat.

The part is of excellent quality and the cable itself is significantly thicker than what broke, but the connection fittings are M6 while what was on there is apparently M7, as the lock nut takes an 11 mm wrench. The M6 fitting will not secure to the female fittings on the car.

Is there more than one cable for these cars?

No, I just got the cable. I guess I'll order one from dinoparts😀

    Thanks for the info.

I checked the threads on the part that was on the car-- larger than 1/4" SAE and smaller than 5/16" SAE. Seems to be M7.

I guess whatever supplier Lyle Tanner used was making M7 parts at the time (1987).

Nothing comes up when I search for "cable" on the dinoparts site-- I'll have to email them

I botched it and used a bolt into the Dino cable fork to claim that SAE, but I pulled that bolt from a marked fastener tray but it was obviously stray

I took a broken throttle cable end to the local hardware store and found this as an M7x1.0

There are both 6 and 7 mm cables and the associated forks out there

I got my cable (6mm) from Mr Fiat / Italian Auto Parts. David there checked the car they have at the moment and found that it indeed has a 7mm cable.

He was so kind as to offer me 2 6mm forks for free with my next order.

I don't know if M6 was factory and the supplier was making M7 for a while or if M7 was factory and the repros are M6.
