Shame. I was hoping to be there to witness their last race... :(
Yes, F1 would survive, but that would be a shame for the two RB drivers; and as the spectacle is not "that enthralling" these days, I think it would be better if they stayed. Even if I am tired of their engine saga: Renault-no, VW/Audi; ah no VW-Audi, so Mercedes please, ah, no-Mercedes? So Ferrari yes, Ah but not the 2015 Ferrari engine; so Renault yes, but Honda if possible; ah, not possible? so Renault based R.B engine... These guys were stupid enough to jump out of a plane in flight without having secured a parachute...you don't need to blame them, they are really doing their best to make fools of themselves, all by themselves... Rgds
Siemens are wasting money I didn't even realize they are a sponsor. The Red Bull brand is so overwhelming the others get lost - IMO
Jaz, Siemens has been a technical partner of theirs for many years. RB also end up helping develop their software.
So who is winning that and always will?? The decision was made by one with authority to do so. Thats normal. Max Mosley speaks up - BBC Radio 4 - Today, 26/11/2015, Mosley: F1 'simply too expensive'
Not sure what you are arguing about; I was pretty clear in why it matters to me despite the ultimate outcome. If Arrivabene was against the supply, it would reflect a poor culture within the F1 team itself. A CEO deciding not to do it is more a business decision than a reflection of weakness within the team. Newsflash: all racing is too expensive. "Cost cap is the right way to go". Based on what? LOL. That will just lead to the engine suppliers making less money, but they aren't going to spend less themselves to win. It won't improve the racing as Mosley suggests. Maybe he should have actually sold the TV rights in a fair process and then evenly distributed the money to all teams instead of doing a shady deal with his bff Bernie?
+1 "Truer words" etc..... It's also been that way since I've been watching, which is *way* too long nowadays! And not just F1 of course; the 'it's too expensive' whines have been around *forever* in pretty much all categories from junior karting through F1. Don't want to play with the big boys, go GP2 or whatever. +1 There's nothing I can see that will improve the racing if they reduce the budgets. +1 Further, and I don't recall the numbers now, but doesn't FOM cream a decent chunk right off the top too before it even gets to the share out phase? (Gotta keep Delta Topco happy after all.) I'll see if I can find that graphic that details what goes where. Cheers, Ian
Christian Horner said on Friday. "We’ve entered the world championship, we’ve signed a contract for an engine, but I can’t tell you what it’ll be or called at the moment," he said at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Interesting. I'm presuming rebranded Renault combustion engines with Red Bull hybrid systems. I wonder how they'll fare against the Renault works team for engine power in 2016. All the best, Andrew.
According to Autosport, Matesich now says "there is too much at stake" for either of his teams to withdraw from F1. Do the RBR caterers serve crow?
Christian Horner said they've got an engine contact for next year and that Ron Dennis might not be happy about it. So... Red Bull-Honda?! As I've said before, it would be a good move for Red Bull, Honda, and McLaren for Red Bull to pay McLaren to buy out the Honda exclusivity. Red Bull get an engine, Honda get more development by running more cars, and McLaren ease the pressure of sponsor losses. All the best, Andrew.
I think Christian Horner is just toying with the press to stir them up a bit! On Friday when the BBC asked him about their 2016 engine supply he said: "You'd have to ask Toto about that - He can probably provide you more details than I am able to at this moment" When Toto was asked about it, his reply was: "I'm not sure why I should know any more about Red Bull's future engine supply than Christian does!" Daniel Ricciardo had also said during the weekend something along the lines of: "We've got an engine deal in place now for 2016 and I'm sure it doesn't take a genius to work out who it's likely to be with" - Which would imply that it's a re-badged Renault engine. Christian Horner has also talked about the 2016 engine deal being an interim step to help get them to where they really want to be - To Me that says it's a one year deal with Renault and they'll be negotiating an engine deal with either Mercedes/Ferrari or Honda for 2017 onwards.
According to the french press this morning: Des Red Bull-Nissan en 2016 ? - F1i.com Quoting Cyril Abiteboul, CEO of Renault-Sport, the engines WILL be (not "would be", "should be", "could be" etc) Renault engines, but for 30 millions euros per year asked from Red Bull (quite expensive for a slice of crow, eh, Dietrich & Helmut?) They "COULD" be branded "Nissan". Rgds
Voices the unbranded Renault engine could be renamed Tag-Heuer, which would explain why Horner said Dennis wouldn't like their solution too much
I'm pretty certain the "Ron Dennis won't be happy" comment was purely Christian Horner winding up the F1 press (as I've previously posted, on Friday he was telling the F1 press to ask Toto Wolff about the details of Red Bull's 2016 engine deal as "....he'd know more about what's going on than I do!"). Ron Dennis is already aware that Tag-Heuer have left McLaren for Red Bull, so putting their name on a Renault engine isn't going to bother him any more than seeing their name on the Red Bull's rear wing or engine cover as I see it. I suspect that Ron has already convinced himself (and has probably told Tag-Heuer) that they are leaving McLaren at the exact wrong time as they're just about to make the greatest comeback since Lazarus!
