Not Really, especially considering it was last serviced at "Midas", according to the CarFax! I imagine it needs a belt service, along with some other deferred maintenance items! With 5k miles, I am sure no one has bothered to put tires on it yet, despite their age. I might go take a look at it, since I want to get back in a V12, though
Lol, that's funny, a Ferrari owner stomping his foot saying "I'm NOT paying a lot for that muffler!". Uh yeah, yeah you are
I don't think the price is especially low or high, but is an attractive proposition It's not an OTO car, but a late standard 612, so ounds like the asking price is about right if you consider the service history and low mileage perhaps are a wash to one another Nice color combo & interior- Looks like perhaps an HGT car as well Given the proper service attention, seems like it has potential to be a very worthy car to own
That was probably just for a state inspection. I get mine done at a Valvoline... Looks like a great deal to me, regardless of any small deferred maintenance. I'd much rather have a very low mileage car with deferred maintenance than a high mileage car that's mechanically up to date, but that's me.
I have been closely watching the 612 market for about a year and a half . Clean non-OTO cars are actually retailing in the 80 to 115k range. A bit more for HGTC/S cars with low mileage and recent service. This is a 105k car as-is, given that I now have more of the history from the dealer. That said, someone may come along and give "all the money". The range is really wide on these cars and there are so few that change hands, that it is a difficult market. I have made an interesting observation: Perhaps the best deals are from large dealers like this one, that take a car on trade and only give 60 to 75% of assumed retail value in trade. This is simply because they are scared that a car like this will leave them holding the bag and/or they do not have a good feel for the current market. If one does thier due diligence on the cars condition, one may be able to really negotiate a good deal. I do speak from experience. Within the last year, I almost pulled the trigger on two different 08' HGTC 612s, both under 15k in mileage and both for less than $115k. They both had current, although not recent belt service. Both were good color combos, but not blue. I want blue...
^If you wouldn't mind sharing, what about its history makes you think it's worth only 105K as-is? Under 6,000 miles seems like something that would differentiate this one from the majority of 612's on the market, OTO's included. Most have far surpassed the 10K mark by now.
No service history; it needs about 10k in service, assuming from a mains dealer; It has blue carpets; I have seen better cars, with simular mileage go for simular money. I will say that this car is not far off a fair price, through... Again, these cars are hard to evaluate because of the massive condition and pricing differences. The other thing is that some people are very secretive about what they paid or sold for. This is a good article with general pricing info from 13' It still seems mostly accurate, from what I have witnessed: The Every-day Exotic : page 2 | Issue 124 | Forza
as others said, it needs a service, the colors may not be everybody's choice, and there are many out there. it is not way out of line, but if they want to move it, it should be 20 k cheaper
Probably can be, but I've actually twice now enjoyed the experience of first talking the dealer down to meet the true value of the vehicle and then watching it brought back up to snuff myself. As long as the deferred maintenance hasn't had some cascading effect, and I haven't seen anything like that yet, it's nice to see the car sorted under your watch, and afterward knowing it was done right. Having all the fresh receipts has value when time to sell as well.
Colors are never to everyone's liking. Ask ten different people which colors they prefer and you will likely receive ten different answers. I haven't really followed the market on the later cars, but I'm seeing '08's for sale for $150K plus... with higher mileage. Also, you're going to have to spend money on maintenance at some point anyway... might as well do it with a low mileage car that is likely in better cosmetic condition. I can't recall ever seeing an '08 612 without a salvage title for less than $100K.
Please don't take this as a "challenge". Rather I'm really trying to understand the market for these and wondering what I'm missing: 2008s? I see them from $120K to $170k after a quick web search. You said "retailing" so I'm not sure if you talking about asking prices or actual sales price (and please let us know how you have that data and what those sale prices were).
If every individual selling an F car, would get 5 buy bids (no trade) from local highline car dealers, averaged the results and added 10%, we would have an entirely different price spread. Remember value is what one person is willing to pay now. So, is this car worth 120k? Sure. Someone may pay 120, knowing or not knowing it needs 8 to 15k in service. Someone may buy and turn it in a year, deferring the maintenance even further. As for me, I am only willing to pay a maximum of 10% over wholesale.
The confusion is that Ferrari introduced the OTO, which was a package of improvements, in the middle of 2008. So there are 2008s which are OTOs and 2008s which are not. That's why you see such variation in pricing.
Very true! The OTO cars are very rare and have some notable improvements, such as trans and roof, so value could be anywhere. I think I would auction an OTO car at somewhere like R&M.
So, someone else has put a deposit on the car. Maybe it will sell this time; the last buyer fell through. This is good, since I really do not need such temptation, this time of year. I did see the car and it is exceptionally nice, but with the service needs, someone will be in this car for over 135k...
