Is 360/430 gated shifter mania spreading to Gallardos?

I thought long and hard about a (manual) Gallardo and R8 before buying my 360 manual last spring. To me, there is limited collectible value with the Gallardo or R8 - even in a manual. That said, I'm sure their values will rise with enough time but not like a gated Ferrari.

The hot ticket in the Lambo world (for me) would be a gated Murcielago. V12, scissor doors, and 3 pedals. Last of the line for their pinnacle car of the time. I looked high + low for one but I could only find crummy or modded examples.

Yah, here in San Diego - at Jake's Motorcars - they currently have FIVE R8s (with a stick) for sale. The funny part is each one of their ads shouts *Rare* in the title. I went to a local Cars & Coffee event here about a year ago and it must have been "R8 day" because there were about 2 dozen of them.

 

Definite possibility. There was a member here searching for an F355 for a while and ended up buying a gated Gallardo.

Does anybody know what percentage of Gallardos were manual? How about how many total Gallardos produced? I know it is by far the largest volume Lamborghini overall.

I am curious how rare the manual Gallardo is compared to the Manual 430?

For whatever reason it doesn't seem like the manual Gallardos have been as coveted. Not sure if that is because there are more of them, or because of the driving dynamics of the car.

 

Time to pick up a green or orange one now.....

 

Drove a stick Gallardo here a few years back. I wasn't too impressed. The car in general wasn't that "nimble" until you got it above 60 or 80 MPH. I don't know if the stick would really add that much more engagement for the chassis over the e-gear to be honest.. and I'm a rabid 3-pedaller!

 

About 14,000 in total were produced but I am not sure on the manual numbers.

As to the OP, I think the reason for the earlier E-Gear (or whatever its called) Gallardos still staying on the market is that with '04 Gallardo it had a very jumpy ride due to some gearbox issues that were fixed after '05. So if you see a sub 100k Gallardo that is '04, you know part of the reason why it significantly less expensive than LP560's.

 

I just posted a list of LP stick Gallardo's a few days back on this board. There are not many ---- 59 LP's manuals produced to be exact. The LP and pre LP are different driving experience cars. They really are a blast -- drive one if you can find one.

I am sure lots of members read the article regarding Ferrari's directions. One was for 6 cylinder engine with smaller frame. The other thing mentioned was about manual transmission. People ordered only 3 for Italia and that is when Ferrari decided not to produce gated cars. They also mentioned about the rising popularity on second hand market for gated shift cars. I will read the article again when I go home tonight.

An F430 with manual would be closest to a RWD Gallardo with manual, of which 43 were sold in the US (see the list linked above), with 25 of those being Anniversary cars built in the final year of Gallardo production.

I believe they are not as 'coveted' because so few are aware they exist. There was no marketing here beyond the limited Balboni, which did receive rave reviews at the time, until the Anniversary model was circulated among the press in the Gallardo's final year. Which was basically the same car as the Balboni four years later, and while no longer competitive with contemporary supercars, is unique because of it. As are the 13 sold here from 2010-2013 book-ended by those special edition models.

Lamborghini has never had the collectibility of Ferrari, so I don't think the Gallardo will have as much of a craze as the 360/430.

I had no idea that manual LP550/560s were that rare. Good to know.

 

The LP560-2 is really quite a special car. It's light (3,042 pds), has the SL interior and carbon seats and nothing like a NA V10. Performs well too (0-62 in 3.4s).

The ship sailed on 430 prices, now 360 prices...just a matter of time until people start looking in the next logical direction that feel they got left out on the run up.

The gallardo requires far less maintenance to own than the 360 and is considerably more powerful.

6 speed gallardos are already trading at a small premium compared to the e-gear models. I would also be willing to say the amount of 6 speed 360s is far greater than the amount of 6 speed gallardos.

I believe the LP series has only about 50 cars. Pre LP has considerably more, but in my research the amount of pre-lp cars with a manual seems to be a bit less than you would think.

04 had the most, but the production numbers drop off fast in subsequent years.

It is indeed a special car, performs well, and has the SL carbon seats and Alcantara. However it does not have the CF door panels and center console of the SL, only some CF appliques. And it may have a dry weight of 3,042lb, but that is definitely not the curb weight as quoted by AW. See the test sheet linked to the C&D article below (lower right of the web page) - an Anniversary car with SL carbon seats would have a curb weight similar to their 3,400lb Balboni test car with optional CCBs:

i do not know... i am not sure gallardo will ever be collectable (with execption of superleggera and squadra corse cars)

but IF a manual gallardo is a future collectable and if they should rise ...let's say as a 150k $ car, i am SURE a regular ogirinal diablo will be then at least double the Gallardo price.

any diablo is SO much more special and lamborghini that it is not even comparable
