My '95 only had straight pipes. NJ only has emissions testing. No ODBII connection so it was a gas sniffer up the pipe at idle and at rpm. No surprise it failed. The PO didn't get them when he bought the car. Time to buy cats.
So I saw the prospeed threads and decided to give them a try. Prospeed was very helpful answering all my emails quite quickly.
I really wanted these for two reasons: First - pass emissions. Second - hopefully not alter the sound too much. I love the way the car sounds at 4K rpm and the burble of deceleration. It's music!
I ordered them on a Friday. I was told 7-10 business days. A week later on a Monday I was told they were finished and at the polishers and they'd ship same day. Today, a week later, they arrived.

The box was a little battered (thanks UPS) but the bubble wrap and peanuts & oversized box kept them safe. This is just to document my experience with them.
They go Thursday to be installed and the car re-tested. The exhaust donuts were order late last week from GT Car parts. Great folks!

But for now, here's a pic of their arrival and a quick sound clip of the car with straight pipes and an XOST exhaust.

I'll see if I can get some better sound clips before installation. This is NNJ so the roads need to be cleared & salt free before I'll take her out.
I'll also get some clips after install.
If anybody has some sound clips of the OEM cats on a '95 355 that would be good for a comparison. I'm using MS Sound recorder & ST LightSnake mike at the bumper above the right exhaust. Hey, it's what I got :)

Thought I'd let you folks know,
My 355 made it through inspection with the prospeed cats. I'm happy.
Unfortunately, I dont have a recording of the sound.

Question for you other folks with tough emission states (ie California)...
when you take it through inspection, if you have a wired-open diverter valve , do you leave it that way or temporarily hook it back up?

    thanks.

    Oh, me too!

I went so far as to check NJ law on tickets for the failed inspection sticker. I couldn't find a dollar amount. But, it seems there is no grace period on failed inspection. You can get "A summons" immediately afterwards even though you have 45 days to get things fixed.

It was just giving an officer another reason to single me out.

I think this company goes by the name evoflow now fort their Ferrari cats. I have them on my 348 and have had no complaints , I think for the $348 they were a little shy of a grand , they might be roughly $1300ish for a 355 , they are usually listed on ebay

to add, I ran my 348 catless for about a month and hated the smell and sound, these cats smoothed out the sound and really made my nouvalari sing , sounds identical to a tubi , imho

For a 95, no CEL, but for a 96+, you get a CEL with a wired open bypass valve, which leads immediately to a failed emission test.

I have these on my car. I haven't had any problems with them. Like John posted, Brian Dinn who is or was a sponsor on FChat sells them on ebay for ~$1300-1400.
