John, Were your regular industry visitors and project sponsors able to see the final models before being shipped off? Curious what sort of comments they were making of the 3 CCS submittals. Jeff
No, not at all. In fact Ferrari said we weren't to show them to anyone before we shipped them. The Graduating students weren't allowed to show them in their portfolios until recently.
the deathwatch for Pininfarina appears to have finally ended still a sad situation, but maybe Mahindra will enable Pininfarina to greatness once again http://www.autonews.com/article/20151214/COPY01/312149926/mahindra-agrees-to-buy-pininfarina-in-deal-worth-185-million
a little book review of the bio of Virgil Exner over on Veloce Today.... Book Review: Virgil Exner ? Visioneer
interesting you mentioned this, recently read this snarky piece from 'thetruthaboutcars.com' A Car So Personal Virgil Exner Named It After Himself, the Plymouth XNR - The Truth About Cars
don't know where I am on the 'list', but I didn't order the 'collector' edition had lunch today with several former GM Design peeps, and they all ordered as well Kip saw the book at the Pebble Beach unveiling last Aug., and said it looks stunning with all the great photos. Don't know about the text.
Hopefully the text will be worthwhile since a designer was involved. None of the "meaning of life", socio-economic mumbo gumbo or tree hugging hippee crap. I'm swallowing hard on the price but it apparently has a more extensive set of pictures. It will cut into my wine buying budget.
More info on Pininfarina already talked about on the last page: Auto & Design | News > Pininfarina becomes of Mahindra
Can we be optimistic about Pininfarina now that their finances have been rescued by new ownership? All the best, Andrew.
Only if car makers start paying for more complete designs rather than simple concepts that they work off of. And then there are all the manufactures who just steal design ideas.
Im 'cautiously optimistic' the new owners will give PF enough autonomy to be great once again. Jaguar/Land Rover have been the better for it.

just the opposite the lead car has a substantial lead: 3357 votes 2nd place so far not even close at 1628 votes Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Intervallo (the 2nd one) is by far my favorite of the competition, it is exciting, futuristic and very interesting. de Esfera (the 1st one) is the most conservative, current looking car and that is probably why it is receiving so many votes.
Thanks! I'm biased of course, but I still think Intervallo is advanced looking and points to the future.....whatever that may be
