Really? I've had a Gtr , currently have a 2015 458 and I'm awaiting my 488 this Spring. I realize some experience will be lost with the 488 but to say it reminds you of a GTR or 911 turbo!!?? Difficult to believe it's that drastic of a difference ...

Its very different IMO. My 458 has the IPE F1 titanium exhaust setup w/ new headers and no cats. This could likely be enhancing the overall experience of my 458 because it is so raw and loud but the 488 really lacked soul. It was fast but a very different beast...the driving instructor also said that others mentioned the same thing and based on the FChat comments it seems to be a common reaction.

Hey there! I just ordered new front carbon fiber winglets to match my carbon diffuser as well as some new carbon engine goodies. That's about it lately. How about you?

I was fortunate enough to drive 488 and F12 for two days of Corsa Pilota on track. I also took delivery of my 991 GT3 RS and tracked it on the Porsche Track Day after the 3000km run-in, before having a back to back comparison with my Speciale in the mountain road that I drive once a week for two years. It all happened in the past month.

If you love the whaling sound of a Ferrari engine, keep a NA V8, be it 458 or earlier models. Turbo simply can not replicate that sound, nor does a V12. If speed is the top priority, 488 is faster than Italia, though I can not tell the difference, if any, between the two in control.

The sound and control of RS are top of other 991s, but can not compare with mid-V8. You can feel that the super electronics in RS manages to control its tail in every hard corners, to a point that a friend of mine who is a long time Porsche collector remarked that "It's a toy!" While on the same corners, I kind of heard the 458s asking "Is it all?"

I think the best bargain now is a used 458, Italia or Spider. It is versatile and sounds even better than Speciale, with prices falling like rock.

The engine sound of Ferrari NA V8s should be listed by UNESCO as World Heritage.

It was mentioned earlier in this forum - why don't we separate the 458- from the 488-forum? I am the owner of a 488 and happy with it and I am somehow tired to hear from the 458-owners that the older model is better and provides more emotions and the whole stuff...

Why aren't they just happy to own the better car in their eyes and let the owners of the new model be happy with the 488? Nobody must upgrade from the 458 to the 488 - it's a free world...

I don't have an opinion since I've never even seen a 488 in person, let alone driven one. Am anxious to hear more from actual 488 owners about the new car.

I think they are happy, and want to discuss it, that's sort of why we are all here. I'm personally interested in everyone's opinion here on each car they come in contact with, good or bad. Even if I don't agree with it I'm happy to hear it. So if you love you're 488 post something nice about why and I'll enjoy reading it 😀

They're just owners discussing the pros and cons of their car and the new one on an open forum...I don't see anyone insulting any 488 owners.
I have a 458 and adore it, likely will get a 488 Spider someday as well.
If you don't want to read comments seen in a thread like this, why open it up and read it when the title clearly invites this sort of discussion?

    Thanks for the welcomes ;)

@ Italianfan I tend to agree to the two separeted forums but it is even nice to share opinions on the two cars in the same place.

I love 488 and I was very close to order it. But sound, after 997 Turbo S, is now a must for me.

So chosing my next car (it will be in 2016) I'll give sound a great importance.
Personalyy I did not like the sound of 488 (but this is only my personal opinion). So next year the only Ferrari I could consider is F12. Other option is Hurracan that has a really great sound.

To be honest I prefer by far 488 design than Hurracan's but I'm usually inside the car and there I want see the outside but I will be lloking for a sexy sound :)

Ils all about the sharing of information between Ferrari enthusiasts to help others in their decision.

As far as I am concerned, I have been waiting for the new 488 with so much anticipation, especially after I placed the order.

It's killing me that I did not fall in love with the latest, higher performance version of the 458 because like many others, I like and embrace change, especially when it comes to cars.

It is actually so hard for me that my brain (the one that wants the newest toy, the additional HP, etc.) has ordered my body to contact the dealership and ask them to retain my order for the 488 in case I change my mind...

How I may change my mind? I am waiting to hear feedback from the new owners and who knows, if I read countless post of pervious Italia owners who are falling in love with their new 488, claiming that the driving experience is as exhilarating as with the 458, I think I will go to another back to back test drive between the cars to see if my heart can finally approve the deal.

I just need to remember that is is my brain that had ordered my 911 Turbo S that never fully did it for me...do not want to repeat this mistake again.

    Ah it's that 'forcing-yourself-to-like-it-just-because-it's-the-latest' syndrome again! :)

Poor 488.. such big shoes to fill..

The engine of the 458 Italia has been award winning best engine of the year in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

    5 years consecutively

458 is a great car with the best engine ever made

My 2 cents: M BMWs are no longer interesting-- just baby 488s. Hang on to your 458s and V12s. We may never see their like again.

While the are great engines, they don't hold a candle to the firm's V12s.

Two Porsche with NA and turbo Mclaren overtaken them, maybe Ferrari will recognize that they make a mistake

The 458 v8 def holds a candle to the v12's. It is just a different experience.

From the Evo car of the year : "488 is an engineer's car, not a driver's car".

Rarely if ever has that been written in a mag about a Ferrari.
