Is there a link to the steps for the gearbox oil change in a Ferrari 550?

I have read section D.15 in the 550 workshop manual and it seems as simple as draining from the drain plug and refilling from the dipstick plug, but an actual experience of someone that has done it would be reassuring.

    Thanks,

    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,
i changed oil by myself in my past 550, is too easy, in addition is better to remove and clean the plastic oil filter, and you can also empty the radiator by removing the two holed bolts that fix the two flex hoses on the bottom of the differential cover.
Is more important to use an appropriate oil, i used the advised from Ferrari Shell transaxle but is ok also an equivalent with same specifications.
I have evidenced in red the filter and the two flex hoses.

    Hello Fabio,

Many thanks for your comments that are very helpful. I will certainly take care of the oil filter and radiator, which I was not aware of.

I have located the oil but it comes in 20 l containers, Shell Spirax S5 ATE 75w-90 (Formerly Shell Transaxle 75W-90) | Buy oil, lubricants, greases and more from Smith and Allan. I believe that I need only 5 l and that Castrol Universal 75W-90 can be used. Castrol 1848030 18277112 1L Universal 75W-90: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

    Regards,

    Antonio
