I am thinking about picking up a Ferrari FF but am a bit disappointed in the exhaust note when compared to F12. How can I make it sound more like the F12 with the downshift blips?

Add a good cat back exhaust. I also thought the note was muted --- and my clear bra installer said that the amount of sound proofing in the car exceeds even the Bentley GT. The car seemed loud enough from the outside but in the cabin it was too quiet for me. I added a Novitec muffler/pipe system and have been happy ever since.

Thank you for your response. Does the Novite system give you the down shift blips and rumble when you take your foot off the gas ?

George, I think the 'blips' you're talking about are software controlled.

NR ECU upgrade should do the trick - purely software controlled. also, Sport mode will give you more agressive shifting patterns

The "blips" have nothing to do with the exhaust.. you are talking about rev matching on down shifts. You need to downshift at higher RPMs if you want the blip to be audible in the FF.

There are blips but nothing like the backing off "crackles and pops" of my early 458.

Yes, it's those "crackles and pops" that I want. How can I get that in a FF?

start with Capristo rear boxes, if not enough, then add Capristo x-pipe+NR Sport Cats with ECU upgrade...that will definitley do the trick -

Perhaps so. But warranty may be a thing of the past.

True, but also down to the realtiosnhip you have with your dealer/service.

Agreed - we have had plenty of cars maintain a warranty, really just depends on your relationship with the dealership you're taking her to.

FYI if you buy a system from Scuderia systems in uk - there are dealers that will fit the kit for you and continue to honour the car's warranty

The warranty is gone on the exhaust, but not the rest of the car, and the exhaust has it's own warranty. No loss.

Not correct. Entire warranty is void. I've had this exact discussion with dealer/service in Switzerland

makes sense - especially if one does the NR ECU upgrade - hence dealer kept OEM Cats and rear boxes in the event that something serious happens they can revert back to OEM ASAP

The ECU definitely is a warranty issue. I was told the removed exhaust simply go off the warranty, will call Ferrari LA service manager about it.

    FYI gentlemen:

For EU and USA customers it is illegal for the dealer in question to even suggest that a sports exhaust will blanket invalidate a warranty. You are all covered by Block Exemption Law and the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act respectively. If your dealer tells you otherwise, it is NOT because one dealer has different rules to another - they are illegally misinforming you (albeit usually through ignorance rather than malice).

In my experience, if you bring the law to their attention, they will permit you to equip your desired exhaust and keep your warranty - legally they have to.

Although I don't know the legal stance for all territories outside these zones, I would suggest it is likely to be true anywhere. The best option is to find out yourself first, because calling your dealer and asking them may well result in them misinforming you. You need to call them armed with the above knowledge, and tell them that you will be fitting an exhaust and legally this will not invalidate your warranty.

Agree, it will not. However, future issues MAY be tied back and you would be forced to prove otherwise. So if your wipers break, they would have a hard time blaming the exhaust. But, should you have an engine problem, they could make a case. Ultimately depends on your dealer. An ECU flash however is far more damning.

Thanks Chris. Hence my message exchange with Manu last night ;-)

I know for sure the cat and ECU flash are no-no's. Maybe rear box is no issue.
