Does anyone have any knowledge/ personal experience with these skid plates listed on ebay or any other skid plates for the Scud? My car is on a lift and it pains me to see the scuffs caused by scraping. Also, will a skid plate cause more damage by actually lowering the car touch point via increased thickness which then might transfer the forces to the front apron? Thanks

Hi, I've used skid pleas on my Italia, Speciale and SA. Have them on my 08 Scud. They're great. These look like the ones the dealer installed on my cars and what came on the Scud. Doesn't really change clearance much and they take the beating, not your under carriage.

+1, just do it...well worth the investment.
(be aware you will lose 1 point in a concours for a non stock modification) I rarely do the show thing, but entered on a whim last summer...I ended up with a 98.5pt car, due to the skid plates (lost .5pt for having 305 width tires on the rear too)). Still got a platinum, best in class... ;)

Just had the bumper resprayed to get rid of rock chips and the scraping underneath. After they were done, i had skid plates installed by the body shop. I thought they'd be more visible than they are. good investment.

Got them on my lowered 430. Great advanced warning system for speed bumps, dips , etc. Just roll forward slowly, if you or hear a scrape, back up and leave. If you don't hear or feel anything the rest of the car is good to go.

Ask your local dealer. As I indicated above, I had the dealer install them on my scud.

Contact the Ebay seller in the first post. Premier Motorsport (the seller) is known to offer good products and services, I am sure they are fine. They also clean/repair Scud headlights with the fogging problem....I have one there right now....curious to see how it turns out.

Only complaint is they are taking their sweet time....but reported they came apart fine, cleaned up well and were resealing them up today (Friday) and were going to let them set up over the weekend, and after inspection, ship it back on Monday.

I have these plates installed on my scud. Great to protect the underneath of the front bumper. However, according to a friend of mine these plates are the reason of the cracks on my bumper. Apparently, they don't provide flexibility for the front bumper and as a result the bumper cracks on the sides, by the fins. Any thoughts?

My understanding for that particular issue (cracking near the side fins on front bumper), the skid plates have no effect to making the problem better or worse...the cracking happens regardless (just a weak spot in the design) if the impact is great enough (but you would think it would spread out the force, reducing the concentration). Obviously, during a repair, you would want to ask the body shop if they can reinforce that area from the back side.

I did have my body shop guy to reinforce both sides and it happened again!

I see that right, to protect the bumper from scratches I drill many holes in it to fix this plate? Does it make sense?

i never see the necessity of a skid plate, it would further lower the car @the front, wouln't it?

They look nice installed like they supposed to be there from the factory. (I think they should anyway) Even though the scuderia supposed to be lower, something about the front bumper that its not as low as the regular F430. I think it angles up a bit and that helps a lot. I had the F430 and I used to scrape the front bumper all the time at my driveway. When I got the scuderia, I never had that issue at the same spot.
