Actually quite amazing that people will pay more for an older 911 than a beautiful 308 (with respect to the Porsche fraternity....great cars also!).

I totally agree. I guess Porsche were more known and seen and that is why they want them.

Excellent pictures and very neat interior!

Only one thing to improve, you need a Neiman style driving key :p

Interesting point. I have a 1972 911 as well as the '78 308 GTB i posted a picture on a few posts back. Here is a pic of the Porsche.
    1) Both are beautiful cars - but the (pre impact bumper) 911s are clearly cars of the 60s whereas the 308 is a child of the 70s. I would say the 60s styling has a broader appeal which accounts for some of the price difference. This may lessen as the youths of the 70s come into money.
    2) the 911 came in 3 power variants and it is only the "S" (plus the specials such as the 2.7) which command the clear price premium over the Ferrari. This is all about exclusivity and not superior driving capability, and I say this despite owning the S model.
    3) in terms of driving, as these are hobby cars for me, I prefer the Ferrari. Both are respectably fast not to be embarrassed on today's roads but it is a special event every time I sit in it let alone drive the Ferrari. I have a pea shooter on the 911 and despite the 308 having a stock exhaust the noise in its cabin is oral bliss. That said the Porsche is easier to drive and is my choice when I really want to get somewhere but still want to take a classic car - no warming up, fuel injection (albeit mechanical), and has proven to have that German reliability. One priviso here though, the 911 steering is very heavy at parking speeds.

So overall, I tend to agree with Casino Sq and Robot, and look forward to some gentle price appreciation on the 308 over the years ahead, and a lot of fun!

What a beautiful machine! I was all Porsche and still own a 1987 911 Carrera. It's a mechanically fantastic car. Engineering bar none. However, there is just something about a Ferrari that grabs me.

The 328 is my absolute automotive obsession, but I've had the good fortune to have 12 Porsche 911's, 10 of which were air-cooled. I agree that they are amazingly fun cars, and to me at least, they are the yin to the Ferrari's yang.

Thanks guys. They came out rather well. I think I'll get them printed to hang up somewhere. If anyone wants copies PM me and I'll print more.

Re: the key, please PM me the details. I got a replacement key from keysforclassics that works but is 'sticky' in the ignition. I prefer to use the key that came with the car because it has worn in sync with the ignition lock and doesn't make my heart stop and my wallet tighten when because it sticks in the lock :)

Here's a picture I took of my '89 that I owned 11 or 12 years ago. Totally original car with 3200 miles when I purchased it. Unfortunately had to sell to buy something else. never posted pics on this site so hope it attaches.
