Agreed however the 488 is still the carryover car for the 458 accept it or not but what's reality is reality but the 458 is no slouch either.

The problem with the sound is not coming from the exhaust, but the engine.
If you put a turbo on 458 still it would sound very good, because the engines is highly tuned. 488's engine is built with environment story in mind, and it's a small engine. So small engine and not highly tuned, some more with the best muffler added (turbo), forget about the sound. It can be louder, but it just won't scream. Lawnmowers are also loud.

Oh no, not your 'it's not highly tuned' anti turbo rant again. Please do some research.

Actually the sound is not bad when revving, because the turbo hasn't started to boost yet. The problem is when reaching mid to high rpm, that's when the turbo kicks in with maximum boost, then it will sound like sucking air. Check out some 488's fly by, it sounds like muscle SUV.

Hey you guys - I'm an engineer and your comparison of an unloaded engine at X RPM in a Dealer Showroom to a fully loaded engine (in a tunnel BTW) is bogus. The only comparison that is valid is the two different cars with their engines fully loaded at approx the same RPM.

Aw come on......the tunnel part was kind of fun wasn't it?? I kind of thought the tunnel and the showroom were an equal playing field til you went and ruined it. Ha Ha

All kind of silly........get whatever car you like better or be like me and put a deposit down on the new Lotus 400 coming out.
At least it sounds better than the old one!
    The 458 is staying also.

Actually the 488 would be LOL more if driven. The 488 actually sounds better when revved than driven, just like any other turbocharged. Because when revved , there is no boost from the turbo yet.

Wait I thought it was because it is not a highly tunred engine like the 458 that it sounds like that and not the turbo. Contradicting your other post here lol. You are right in this post, the turbo is why it sounds the way it does, not the highly tuned claim you make.

yo lol! you want the 488 to fail so bad. haha damn we all get it. I LOVED MY 458. I have owned a LOT of sick cars. my aventador stock was quiet as a kitty cat. like a huge v12? it was literally about the same level of sound as my 488 is, but once I tuned it and change the exhaust and things, it was a beast. but the same company exhaust on my aventador made the same system for the 458 and to this day it was the best sounding exhaust I've heard next to the Carrera GT(btw, I hate porsches)

now, my boys at Capristo made a pretty legit exhaust for the 488. it sounds a lot better than the 458 does. it's also VERY loud. but I can't wait for the meisterschaft system for my 488. I do admit the 458 with the stock sport exhaust was very beastly. but I feel a big difference in overall handling and power from my 488 to 458.

people kill me with the twin turbos aren't loud or turbo's aren't loud. so the F40 isn't loud? smh

You can make a Toyota Camry to produce 700 hp using a turbocharged. And a Subaru WRX also sounds good when being revved. These are all cheap engines, like Honda F1 used to say, boost is cheap but rev is expensive.. The reason why 488 doesn't scream when moving is because it is not a highly tuned engine. If you put a turbo on 458 or 430, they still scream. There is nothing contradicting here, any car can sound loud when revved, just like any lawnmower.

Lawnmowers are also loud. What we want is scream like NA F1. Let's see if Capristo can do the magic. 911 turbo has been around for so long, I have never seen one that sounds good. I think Capristo also makes lots of Porsche's exhaust, right?

Nice, get in a cold engine and flog the throttle at idle, feel bad for that engine

so a lamborghini aventador LP-700 4 is a cheap engine? even revved to redline, the aventador is pretty quiet. I've owned 2, the 2014 is even quieter than the 2012. with the valve plugs, it makes a HUGE difference. but delivered out of the dealership it's quiet. you sound real dumb saying this. at idle yes the aventador is pretty mild.

Is your Aventador turbocharged? Must be a special edition one.

So modern F1, Indycar, Porsche 919 and rally car engines are cheap and not highly tuned because they're turbocharged? 🙈

Those engines are all-out tuned compared to road version's engine, but if compared to their own NA version, they are actually a spec-down.

U seem to define state of tune simply by revs. I don't think that's how engineers define it.

Is there a NA-version from the 488 engine available which you can compare with the 458 engine? Or are you just playing around in your own imagination?
