I am pleased to offer this very rare US spec downdraught Countach that has emerged from long term storage. The car runs and drives but really deserves a top flight restoration. It is an ideal candidate to restore, as it is a very straight, complete, and original car. This project includes a proper Euro spec bumper if you wish to ditch the daintiest of the DOT 5 MPH bumpers that were ever fitted to a Countach. The deal also includes a set of new P Zeros. The car also has the rear wing (not pictured) that has all of the typical blistering. Some may disagree with me, but I feel that due to the age and ropey initial build quality of the Countach a car with a well executed restoration is the only way to have a Countach that lives up to your dreams. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a Downdraught Countach at a price that allows for a proper restoration and sorting. I would be delighted to carry out the restoration of this car in my workshop, or you can go with a restorer that you already have a relationship with. You can also go the DIY route, but be forewarned that the proper restoration and sorting of a Countach is not for the faint of heart.
As awareness of the superiority of the Downdraught increases, so will the price delta between the Downdraught and other Countach variants. It isn't a matter of "if" but "when" the Downdraught Countach becomes the next Lamborghini to trade exclusively in the seven figure range. Priced VERY right at $499,000/obo

Beautiful Countach! For those interested, I wouldn't hesitate purchasing a vehicle from Michael and/or having him execute a high caliber restoration. He is nearing completion of restoring my '76 308GTB Vetroresina dry sump and I have nothing but positive things to say.

The car next to it is actually a 308 GT/M (#001)
I bought it as a bookend to the 288 GTO Evouzione #79888 that we previously had. Both cars had a rich Belgique Ecurie Francorchamps history. From what I understand, GTO evolutione #79888 now has a new owner in the Chicagoland area. It seems idiotic to me that he doesn't own the GT/M. He could find himself being the ultimate "grand slam" Ferrari Supercar collector...An IMPOSSIBLE feat for anyone else to repeat.http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/508186-ferrari-308-gt-m-supercar-

This particular car is a 1986 model. Having been down the restoration road with a few Countach at this point, I would say that I would budget $150k to get the car to #1 (mechanical & cosmetic) condition.

Nice car and not a bad price, but 150K is light if you revert to pre-dot-molestation. CT expensive to restore correctly. Will seem cheap as DD no question going over 1M.

Just a thought, if you offered this at $650,000 including the cost of restoration, that would seem like a deal. Your work on previous cars clearly speaks for itself.

That's basically what I've done. I'd be happy to do it. I would be looking at about a 14 month time line, and would need a $150k budget to make it a star.

The buyer could also elect to use another restorer if they have a shop that they are in love with.

In any event, having an immaculate Countach Downdraught the owes you $650k is good position to be in:)

    Michael,

That is a beautiful example. I also loved the pics of the projects in your garage. I'm in Utah too and I'd love to take you to lunch this year in exchange for a tour of your garage sometime.

I recall that car from mid-2005 on sale for... $59K! at that time noboby wanted to touch a countach.. times changed!

Also i also wondered why that unit which in sequence was supposed to be an FLA ended as a GLA in the VIN sequence with an almost 1987 date. I wonder how the factory did sequencing.

For those that are interested in a Countach DD, but are hesitant to pull the trigger because of the Countach's price appreciation over the last two years, ask yourself this:

Which one of these cars was the most (or at least one of the most) iconic in its day?
Which one can be still be purchased fully restored in the $650k range?
Which was the most powerful Countach variant?

The DD was the only Lamborghini ever FIA homologated, and for group B, the same class for which the 288 GTO and 959 were purposefully built.

The fact is all of these cars but for the BBI and DD were over $650K for a fully restored example even 2 years ago. The DD is just now starting to catch up.

    Just my two cents.

That is for sure. huge prices appreciations are not unique to the Countach. The 308 is now stratospheric for what it is, same as the 911 slant nose turbos, testarossa etc...
Some of these car's appreciation can be questionable but cars like the Countach or the BB512 to me are different. the BB could also be had for much less than $90K even longer than the countach! Even the Mangusta! I missed a near perfect one at ... $45K... over 10 years ago :( Could not by both the countach and the mang. My wife would have had my head.
