I was working on the interior of the car last week end when I realised there is is knob in the glove box of my 1986 328 GTS. Can someone educate me on the use of this? I joined a second picture from the underside since I am taking the console out. Sorry for the picture's quality. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, that's the optional "increase/decrease" knob! OK, in reality, it's something that a Previous Owner added that shouldn't be there -. Trace the wiring and get rid of it. A bunch of the electrical issues that people complain about re these cars is due to cr@p like that. I admit it would be interesting to hear what it was if you determine its intended function. But whatever it is/was, Ferrari had nothing to do with it.
Based on the fact that there are hoses connected to that switch (not wires)... could it be an adjustable height suspension control? Turbo boost?
Fascinating ! It looks exactly like a turbo boost control, but I suspect if your car had a turbo you might have noticed this Need to follow the air/vac pipes. We need to know!
Bwahahaha. That made me laugh for real. Clever. Maybe it's a dealer installed option for the service bill? It only turns one way.
I have. Hooked up to a turbocharger waste gate. I suspect it had one earlier in its life before someone got smart and took it out.
Yeah - I didn't look at the pic closely enough to notice that it's tubing, not wiring! So a boost controller seems likely!
It looks like the turbo boost control on my 308QV. I don't know why I have it, I always leave it on full boost
Now, in addition to the missing tools and owner's manual leather pouch, I find out I need an increase/decrease knob for the '87.... will it never end?
I can send you mine as soon as I tear it out. Just give me your CC number. Promise I won't exagerate.
In the interest of international good will, I will pay cash in USD. My CC is maxed out after buying one of the screwdrivers I need.
