A blue one. His words were helpful when I was shopping "every drive a sense of occasion" and "nothing that it can't do" and "oh the power !" if I recall. He's a big guy, of course he will properly review the TDF. I like the comparison idea. I don't think that will happen, but he will refer to the F12 obviously. The F12 is so much power for the normal roads, the TDF will clearly be uber. I think it's a monster track car that too few will put on the miles to enjoy at the track. If you have the money, drive the damn thing.
My FF came from the same dealer that Chris Harris bought his from. The video is on YouTube. He owned it for 6 months and 6000 miles as he initially planned and the dealer told me that Chris loved the car and felt it was the best all round car he'd ever driven. I know what he meant now.
How could he not It's the best all around car ever made because ... it was made on the request of an elite group of drivers, by a very elite, possibly most elite car company ... to suit a need and a quality standard, not hit a price point for quarterly reporting.
Press reports in the UK say Harris has been recruited as part of the new team fronting BBC's Top Gear TV show. What an inspired choice, and will help explain why he's been rather busy. If true, well done Chris!
Top Gear presenters: Virtually unknown Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz 'to be Chris Evans' sidekicks' - Telegraph
With Chris on I think the show stands a good chance at succeeding. Hope they all have chemistry, but always room to trim. IMO Richard porter would be a great fit. He used to edit scripts for TG, knows Harris well, still writes for EVO...he was at the Belgian GP and was interviewed briefly. Funny chap. First season of Top Gear, before James May, they had that fat one Jason Dawe (?) on there; didn't work out and he was dropped quickly. Good stuff.
Agree, Chris will be a big plus. I think he knows more about cars than any of the outgoing 3 and he's got personality. Let's face it, the show got way too goofy towards the end. It would be good if Chris actually brought it more back to a gearhead orientation, at least from my perspective. Not sure how that will affect the ratings though, which I'm sure will be the BBC's #1 priority once they get over the short-term worries of whether they even have a show to put on.
Well, no one posted that it would take this long for the Harris review. Its mid February and cars are showing up everywhere. So I am wondering what the strategy is for the release of the review. Could be a bunch of reasons and interested in your take. Now that its dead of Winter, seems no advantage to release. Maybe for the Spring time sales bump to help all models? The video really won't impact tdf owners as these cars are always pre-sold. Perhaps it is being timed to counter the release of a competitor car? Can't believe the review is so-so and they want to have it come and go silently. Bet its epic just don't get the delay.
Since it appears Harris is signed on to the (new) Top Gear, seems like he has fallen off the planet. That's a relatively common occurrence when media personalities change platforms.... I'm going to guess that the F12tdf will be among the first cars Harris test drives on the new show, but IIRC that's about 9 months from now, so the buzz will be long gone
That is what he wrote in his Instagram a week ago. So hopefully we will see his TDF review soon. Image Unavailable, Please Login
His last video was published on the 23rd of november. Noticed that more professional car related media (EVO, Autocar,Chris Harris, Drive, Motortrend) changed their Youtube strategy last year. Less and/or shorter content for the most part.
The trinity vid was about an hour and probably the most epic car vid ever made. I think the man can take a break on work on his higher paying commitments. I really hope they get a great balance for top gear with leading edge car reviews and entertainment, rather than just 3 guys acting like clowns for the last couple of seasons. Only issue I see for top gear is if they aren't streaming than all the cars reviewed are always a couple of months or even years after they have been done on YouTube by the other channels.
He's releasing more video's in the coming weeks. He's already filmed the TDF a while back so expect that to come, too. EDIT: Whoops, missed the insta post above...whoops.
Hmmm. I was perhaps thinking something more sinister along the lines of Ferrari controlling (at least in part) the timing of this particular review's release. I find it hard to believe there is no Quid for the access in that regard.
that's good news. I had thought that maybe the Beeb had purchased some of his last drives / tests as part of the deal to bring him on board TG. In addition to the TDF, also like the suggestion that he review the Focus RS, but I have a feeling he won't rave about it.
Should be soon gentlemen, can't wait!! ... From his Instagram account on Feb. 23, 2016: Image Unavailable, Please Login
