I just read this over on Rennlist. I'm just curious if this is public and what the story is... Pretty wild if true. I bet this guy is pi$$ed !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rennlist member: "FWIW I know of someone currently suing the italian guys that make red painted cars over a very similar situation in which he was instructed to trade in a few million in previously cared for red italian cars to lose money by trading in on the Enzo LaEnzo. They swapped his slot for another buyer, but had sold all his cars already... Guy is worth 50-100m and is suing italians...so to say this is "common" is a sad but true statement even when the stakes are higher."

I think the plaintiff is suing Ferrari because he was apparently told that if he traded in a few of his Ferraris (no idea of the models), he would be given a slot and allowed to order a new LaFerrari. But apparently his slot was given to someone else and he now has no LaFerrari and no longer owns his old(er) Ferraris.

Somebody more famous got his car. Ferrari is all about product placement now. The more in the media a person is, the easier it is for them to get a Ferrari. Do you really think Kardashian really placed her order 3 years ahead of time to get a 458?

Briber waited to get his car? Ha..

I think its always useful to sometimes make a distinction between Ferrari and Ferrari dealers.

Who do Ferrari think they are telling someone, who apparently is a very good client, to sell a batch of their currently owned Ferrari's in the first place???

    That is what kills me.

Whats the big deal about a LaFerrari? Just wait a couple of years and buy one when the "F80" or whatever comes out. Anyone can buy a Enzo now. Whoop de doo.

I have no facts or even gossip around this.

The allocation "logic" around the supercars (which comes around what, every 10 years?) and the LE cars (eg. Speciale Aperta, F12tdf) are a mix of logic and subjective, and best I can tell, where SpA gets involved on a name-by-name basis.

I am sure there is elation (by those who get a slot), and frustration, anger, et al by those who do not.

A reaction (i.e. no facts so far that I've seen/read) is that if there was a "trade-in" involved, it's a dealer-driven transaction. SpA or FNA do not take cars in trade, it's a dealer level thing.

I also know that dealers (not all) can be optimistic about getting allocations, and can encourage customers to enhance their positioning (eg. buy a CaliT, buy an FF, trade in your Speciale). I'd imagine some dealers do that responsibly, some don't. Our local dealer (Miller) has been consistently up front and honest with us when it comes to allocations

Lots of noise right now about Porsche dealers "re-diverting" GT3RS allocations, plus they are gouging $50-100K on the MSRP. It's not the first time, or last time.

IF - IF (again, have seen no facts) there was some kind of defensible, binding agreement for a car, then maybe there are grounds for legal action. However, best I can tell, every high end car I've ordered has not been a binding sales contract, merely an order with a deposit.

Ppl who can afford a LaF aren't use to being told that they can't have something they want, no matter what they'll pay. I think it elicits lots of anger but it's a select and small group of people so not very important in the big picture of things. I'd small of all the worlds injustices it ranks quite low......

Smells Fishy. Guy has multiple Ferrari cars that he sells to the dealer in exchange for getting a La Ferrari allocation--but he does not get it in writing?

Not really, just being a "businessman" no one has ever heard of from Slovakia should do it.
