Yes he does, which is totally bizarre. One of my forum friends has confirmed that the car shifts at 8000 in every gear and in every mode. I wish someone would post a damn video of it and put this issue to rest.
Probably just as hard to find a video of the 458 doing the same thing. Who knows......maybe Ferrari just put it out on all their literature and every car magazine that test drove it also wrote it was in on it too. They probably figured no one would ever know but we sure fooled them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If I have a look at all the videos I don't see a rev limiter at 7'500rpms, I just see shifting operations at 7'500rpms. Let's think about the following: if I drive my Scud in the race mode I never turn the engine into the rev limiter, I switch always beforehand in the next higher gear. If I drive the car in the auto mode or when the Manettino is in the sport position you can recognize the same behavior, the Scud will never hit the rev limiter at 8'500rpms. And this is ok so, It makes simply no sence to turn an engine into the rev limiter.
Daniel, have you driven the 488? This thread was started because after driving the 488 for 20 minutes in a wonderful twisty road, it was odd that it kept hitting the rev limiter at 7500 rpm when the tach red lines at 8000. It was especially annoying because the car builds revs so quickly towards the red line that before you can pull the lever at 7500 so that you shift close to 8000, it already hit the fuel cut off and the rev limiter. When an engine has an 8000 rpm redline, the rev limiter is usually set at 8200 for that very reason. In this case, it was definitely shutting down at 7500. Just thought I'd offer the explanation as to why I had originally started this thread.
Read first then ask. Sorry Arnie, those were my thoughts after reading the recent comments, I forgot to read your initial post.
Well I can verify this morning my 488 1st,2nd,3rd,4th and 5th redline @ 8000 rpm in sport and race mode have not had enough road yet to test 6th and 7th
For some strange reason this will not be enough. You must post a video or the issue is not considered 'put to bed'.
If weather continues to hold up, I'll get my son to hold the camera Kind of hard to capture this myself between the wheel spokes while accelerating
I can't go through all of this, but my 488 definitely hit 8000 rpm out the dealership with 51 miles on it. it hit 8000 redline today as well. I don't know what you guys are talking about. and 8k is low. I'm so used to my aventador redline
I think you're confused. I've been happy since the day I met my wife. The fact that I've fulfilled every dream I've ever had should put that question to bed. As far as this little question of rev limiter, I have repeatedly said that it would be absolutely impossible for the car to have anything less than a 8000 rpm rev limiter. This is not personal and I'm not exactly sure why anyone would think it's tied to my happyness. The bigger question is, are you happy? If so, God Bless!!!
Dude, just giving you a hard time. Lol. It's all good. I think it's funny that this question is still going on. Soon once you get your call you can definitely find out for yourself.
You know exactly what he means so don't pretend you don't. You seem to have been obsessive in your doubting of 8K, incessantly demanding that someone on this forum who owns a car tell you it goes there and for some strange reason only that will do, despite all the other sources that confirmed 8K, and even modifying your demand that it be video evidence once owners had confirmed 8K. You've been chasing a question that was answered long ago. As for "I have repeatedly said that it would be absolutely impossible for the car to have anything less than a 8000 rpm rev limiter.", not sure I remember you saying that anywhere, but I may be wrong on that one.
Come on guys. You don't have to read this thread if it bothers you. Leave us discuss if we want. Thanks.
I've heard the limiter is set at 7985. We need to get to the bottom of this very important issue.....
