Josh Cartu was very informative and good video.

I often wonder if Schmee has ever seen or experienced anything in his lifetime that wasn't wonderful and fabulous.

I think I watch him because I'm only waiting for him to say 'this car sucks'.

Josh Cartu was very informative and good video.

Fully agreed on the above, this is a great Video from a guy who knows what he's talking about.

I saw a 488 raised on a lift today and had a walk around, I do love the front Fender design, its a massive improvement on the weak chinned 458

I found his comments about the rev limiter very interesting. I wish he would expanded his description.

This new video he lets Shmee drive the 488 and they discuss more. The video later gets into F12 but the 488 drive is early on.

Great video and simply awesome (overused term, but not here) sound on the TDF! What a stunning car.

Don't care of the yellow calipers with red/black interior.

But old Shmee is always fun.

This video confirms my observation that the 458 and 488 sound similar at idle and low revs. Once you get in the higher rpms the 488 loses the increase in pitch you get in the 458. Nonetheless the 488 is an improvement in performance. I'm curious how it will perform compared to the 650s or turbo s

Turbo S isn't direct competition but certainly 650s is. However I would imagine both would out accelerate the 488. Not sure on the rest but those two are rockets in a straight line.

Interesting that on a purely subjective level some key reviewers (Chris Harris plus EVO magazine), already familiar with 650 pace, have remarked that the 488 feels shockingly fast. It also has a significant amount of extra torque than the 650.

I know there is a video of a 488 racing a 12C where each wins one or two drags but those never prove anything. There are some key parameters, measured by multiple magazines, such as 80-120km times where 488 holds an advantage though.

Outright speed has always been less important to me than the manner of the delivery of the performance and frankly, whatever the comparative pace, I'm hoping this is where the 488 really delivers.

Yes the 991 tts is definitely not a direct competitor to the 488 but one of the things that people say about the 488 vs the 458 is it's large amount of tq and it's hp advantage so then it should keep up with the 991 or even 991.2 turbo s or even the 650s, not just the 12c. Straight line performance is not the only metric I agree, comparisons of these vehicles with similar tires on the same track will also be interesting to watch.

Interesting you would still feel that the Porsche turbo S and a McLaren 650 S would still out accelerate the Ferrari 488. The Ferrari now has the torque to keep up with both these cars. The Porsche turbo s has the four wheel drive to launch but once moving the Ferrari has the HP to out accelerate it. The McLaren looks move evenly matched with the 488 except of weight where it's lighter.
