    Amazing. Simply, amazing.

A friend of my father was a military dentist (he's in private practice now). While stationed in Germany many years ago, he apparently became quite close with Alios which led to him becoming a huge Ruf fanatic. During high school, I stayed at this friend's house in Santa Barbara for a weekend. He took me for one hell of a ride in his Ruf. I don't remember the model (993 based I believe), but it was one of the best automotive experiences of my life. The violent power is something I'll never forget.

Good luck and enjoy. Such an amazing acquisition.

    :)

    That car is utter madness!

Why doesn't it get publicity like kegg, pagani, etc? Has anyone ever tested one? Lap time?

I think that in general, Ruf has never been well-understood in the U.S. They get lumped in with other "tuners", when in fact they are a true manufacturer. I have been around their cars here and at the factory, since the 90's, and until you drive one, you can't appreciate their level of engineering and design.

As for the Clubsport, I promise you that it drives beyond your wildest dreams (at least the one in the gallery I posted!).

Dumb question, but can you buy a new one in the US?

I remember they ran the "yellow bird" in "World's Fastest Cars" by Road & Track. The AMG Hammer was in there, a 288 GTO, Testarossa, two 959's, Countach, and a few more. The writer went out with Paul Frere I think and ran 207 mph or something. Probably one of the best articles I've ever read. I must have been in grade school. I kept the magazine - will have to dig that out and read it again for old times.

PS: The writer said "my gawd, these are Indy speeds" - I'm going from memory here

The car had a few chips on the bumper. RUF had agreed to fix the chips as part of the purchase and go through the mechanicals as I'm a bit OCD 😀

Next thing I knew they were sending me the following pic...they stated they could not guarantee a perfect match if they just fixed just the chips so they opted to remove all glass and replace all rubber seals, and do a complete bare metal repaint . I met Estonia and Alois at Quail and they pulled out three sample paint swatches for me to look at. The liquid metal
color chosen was one they have used on the CTR3. I love the way it turned
out. When asked why they opted for a complete repaint they Estonia replied "we only know how to do things one way....perfectly !".

A true legend of a car. No words, I'm excited by just looking at the pictures, so incredibly rare to see new pictures of this truly amazing machine.

Just want to add, since this was not my thread to begin with, the Jas has just acquired the absolute finest air-cooled Ruf model ever. I have owned most of them, and the CTR2 is just that much better than their other great work. Congratulations.

Thanks Jas. I'm fairly certain one of my former Ruf's is still living the good life very near to you...it just might be Oak Green Metallic.
