Actually, I know at least one Countach owner who had the car and still lived at home!

    Non-skirted: 3 in rosso/bianco: C701BYX, C740BYX and KM8/E482NUL - all three are below.

There were 6 more in red with cream interior; 1 in red with tan; 1 in red with blue and 3 more in red with black.

That's 14 UK RHD non-skirted QV DDs in red....

I have seen them only when the original broke and they replaced it with this one.
It's almost impossible to source the originals from the Fiat Argenta anymore.
It took me 3 years to source a pair!

Thanks Robert, I was just curious about the 2 1986 red/white cars, C701BYX and C740BYX.

I know all about KM8 because of my friendship with that car's owner.

Can you tell whether this car now in Australia is C701BYX or C740BYX?

Picking up on this post now that I have a little more time tonight, I'd like to say that this cover below is telling of the significance of the DD variant, paired as it is with the most powerful Miura variant, it being the same for the Countach variants. I think its one of the most important Lamborghini-related magazine covers ever published.

In the S3's restoration thread, the finish of cam-covers has been discussed. As we know it to be, the "Lamborghini" script on the DD's unit was filed off by the works upon production.

Hi Joe, C740BYX (UK) and 09208H (Australia) are the same car. C701BYX is still C701BYX and still in the UK as far as I know!

I see a storyline between the Stratos (another FIA Homologated car) and the Countach DD, and the link is that they are very special Bertone designs

True! And of course both penned by Gandini at Bertone.

Another article I encourage you get is this one from CAR magazine's October 2012 offering simply entitled: "Gods"

It covers the most important sports cars over the past 50 years of CAR's existence.

As Ciro Izzo said so eloquently on another thread:

"The Downdraft could possibly be the ultimate evolution of a car (any car) from the invention of the automobile to the DD. An absolute monster in looks and feel, no modern technology whatsoever. The end of an entire era and what a way to go out".

Mark, I'm somewhat of a (probably second-rate) writer but I couldn't have summed it up better myself if I tried.
