I don't know who you are or where you live, but I don't appreciate your tone. I'm not a child and I don't need you telling my what I'm thinking or pretending about. What is it with you dude? Like it has already been said, if you don't like it, get off the thread 😡
Your answer to the poster was disingenuous. The poster was clearly talking about your questions regarding the rev limit and you dodged his point by rambling on about your general level of happiness, something that was clearly not being questioned by the poster.
Guys, as I've tried to explain, from where I sit, Ferraris and this Forum are about having a good time. I feel very fortunate to be in a position to enjoy these wonderful cars. Wishing everyone happy holidays and a very Happy New Year. Peace out
I absolutely agree. No harm intended guys. We're all part of a small family that are fortunate enough to enjoy these wonderful cars. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holidays! Hope next year bring lots of good fortunes to everyone.
Here you can see automatic trans and race mode, the car shift at 7500 rpm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlNJL8ywAqk
This is an old video of one of the early cars. Pat, an actual owner has already verified that his car shifts at 8000 in manual and auto.
You mean except the owners who have confirmed 8K here and all the road testers who've also confirmed 8K?
I'm the one that started this thread 2 years ago after a test drive in Monterey. Then I got my 2016 GTB that did the same thing. Two months ago I took delivery of my 2017 488 Spider, and still nothings changed. In my opinion, this is the most unusual thing any manufacturer has ever done with any car, especially Ferrari. I've spoken to endless people about, including a couple of folks when I visited the Ferrari factory last year. There is no answer and I suspect never will be. It is my only significant complaint about the car.
While I am not sure there are not some conditions where the revs are limited to 7,500, and cannot tell either whether in some other conditions it will actually reach 8,000, I am pretty sure that on manual / race mode it does exceed 7,500 revs (I would guess it goes to about 7,700 / 7,800 - I will need to specifically test it, and hopefully record it on video, to make it sure; that will probably not be possible until next year though). Not that I particularly care about it though
I plan on asking my dealer about it but I don't expect a clear answer. I remember seeing the same experience from an owner in Europe.
It says 8000 rpm because it hits 8000 'some' times but mostly it is 7500 and fuel cut. Now I have done track, it is clear in manual mode, shifting at about 7000 is ideal. https://youtu.be/h0buYrLMDfg Around 40sec-50sec you can hear fuel cut.
When I test drove the car it was 7-7,500. Salesperson told me it was because the engine wasn't fully warmed yet. More power than you need for the road.
With "PS", it definitely shifts at higher rpm. I don't have logs so I don't have the exact rpm. I don't understand why the lower rev limit when in manual mode.
I checked OBD 2 readout of rev limiter 2017/2 488 GTB, in Auto/ Manual mode 7500-7600 rpm and only with LC 7750 rpm. My car also hits rev limiter in Auto Mode when switching from 4 th to 5th gear at 7500 rpm, also in Race mode. Rev limits like in youtube video " rev limiter 488". My car was built January 2017, but noch change to earlier cars. Revmeter is accurate , may be +/- 30 rpm difference estimated from scale compared OBD 2. I guess 670 PS (661 hp) at 8000 rpm is marketing, engine reaches max. power at about 7200 rpm, ideal switching at around 7700 rpm, 8000 rpm I have never seen
