    I actually think that it looks better than 458 with the side vent. If it's not a turbo, I would have ordered the spider.

    Awesome clip....really shows the awesome 458 exhaust note and difference between the short 488 rev limiter.

    yes the turbo does boost while revved, thats why you can hear the turbo hiss when a turbo car is revved up.

    The Edo 488 exhaust is made by Capristo and the same like Capristo.

    I heard that if you inadvertently suck a goose into the side scoops on the 488 you could crash into the Hudson river.
    Poor design by Ferrari they should have consulted with Sully.

    The 488 is a great looking design. It's not a perfect beauty, but it's a great looking car that's for sure. When the 458 came out, it had a better design compared to the 488 when coming out. That does not prevent the 458 from looking dated against the 488 now. That does not change that Ferrari did a good job on the difficult task. It's just that, in 50 years, it's highly unlikely that the 488 will be seen as the design milestone of v8 mid engine sport cars of the early 21st century.

    The 570s, on the other hand, is in my view the greatest looking McLaren. it's a step up from the similar looking 650s. Similar looking, but a step up. Just to note: Also the Macca will probably not get the finest of the 21st century award. It's just that McLaren was able to improve (my view) on all details of the 650s styling. Ferrari just could not achieve - as the 458 was so strong; as new elements had to be added as a technical necessity; etc.

    Then again, the 488 is probably no direct competitor to the 570s (price-wise, HP-wise).

    In the end: It's so good that McLaren stirred up the game and made a real competitor.

    I bought a new BMW M3. Sadly I did not even drive it before I bought it. I had owned 3 M3s before and they were awesome cars. I sold the car within a month.

    I bought a used M3 a 2008 nodel and it had the M3 feel and some of the sound I loved so much.

    I think the poster who said external forces are facing the European car manufacturers is most likely correct.

    Could not agree more, imho the 570S is the best McL to date, aside from the F1 and P1 hyper cars

    Motor trend did a review on a pre production 570s. Seems like a promising car, I was considering one in the future. Although I'm curious if it will depreciate as much as the 12c or 650s.

    Surprised to hear that. I owned a 2008 M3 and also tracked that at the M Racing School. Sold it for an M5. Than I tracked the new M3 and loved it. Felt it blew away my old 2008 M3. Personally I'd never go back to my 2008 knowing what a monster the new M3 is. When I get bored with my F10 M5 I'll be trading that in for the new M3.

    I didnt have time to read all 11pgs of this thread but you sir, get it.

    Natural aspiration, analog feel 4EVER.

    Personally I've had a combination of NA porsche and ferrari (458, 458 spider) and just cannot come to terms with throttle lag and lame sounds and feeling of the latest 650, 570S, 488, turbo, etc.

    so now i am just trying to get every naturally aspirated, analog car i can because there just is no replacement for it (RS, 911R, etc)

    One solution if you can afford it is to keep your 458 forever and then roll in and out of whatever Ferrari comes up with next. What's wrong with a 458 AND a 488 in the garage :)

    This is an interesting thread. I too am torn between the latest technological excellence and the perceived loss of a certain tactile change in the cars. I have had varied F cars, and whilst waiting for a TDF traded my F12 for a Cali T. Never had the old Cali as it was not for me, but the new one, well I thought why not. Hmmm, it is a n easy car to live with, am happy with the looks and the performance. But I do get what people are saying, the turbo unit is effortless but it just feels like any other car now. The F12 still had that frantic mad urge, like the 458 before it. That extra zip at the end of the rev range that made you tingle. That has gone. Huge performance yes, but... I think a 458 will be little like a 993 Porsche in future, that last of a breed. Never going to be the best as technology moves on, but certainly one of the greatest NA cars ever made (as is the F12) and if you can afford it one to keep. I was going to get a 488 Spyder, but am thinking of getting a Speciale (if uk prices don't go mad) as a car to keep and keep. I have not driven the 488 I should add, I love much of the design detail but hate those air intakes on the wings. I guess Lambo Huracan is the last too of a generation of NA cars. Or are we all dinosaurs ...
