Did a dealer tell you they are giving you an allocation?

I hope you got it from Ford and not a Dealer? As far as I know the process hasn't started yet!

Dealers cannot allocate cars. Only Ford HQ can. I asked who promised him a car because you are correct the process has not started yet.

I can't wait to see what these cars are like. There's so much competition out there that the GT will have to be something really special to stand out.

From a production level of course you're right I'm hoping it does from a performance perspective as well.

I think he is giving you bad information. Ford's new GT website says the application process will start in January.

For the most current info, get involved in the fordgtforum, and you should know the day the application gets announced.

Good luck to all of us that want one !

+1. Even dealers have to go go through an application process separately from customers so they themselves don't know whether they are getting one or not (most likely only large volume dealers will get an allocation and only a handful of them will) so it is unlikely any dealer can guarantee an allocation without even knowing they will get an allocation themselves so GOOD LUCK to those that have been told by their local dealers that they have been allocated one.

If anyone, and I repeat ANYONE, has been told by a Ford dealer that they are getting an allocation, that is bad information. Dealers simply do not have this capability.

But so far the ford website does not list the process either. So is there an application process?

That's correct, the application process has not begun. It will later this month.

You can just check back at 2017 GT Supercar | Ford Sportscars | Ford.com/fordgt but it will be posted everywhere once it starts.

It's not first-come, first-served so no need to panic about getting in at the first minute.

I filled in the form and keeping the powder dry.
I like to buy cars that can run on track, otherwise in todays road conditions whats the point of a fast car, also only buy cars that are keepers, and the GT checks all the boxes for me.

Plus I have the GT40 recreation, so this is an ideal bookend for the modern era.

On another note, had a Mustang convertible rental in FL, its really a good car, go team America.

There is a form at the very bottom of the page to "Get More Information". It is a general signup to their email server, where you can select the car you are interested in. The GT is one of those cars. Perhaps that is the form that was mentioned?

Maybe that is what he meant but that is NOT the application for a Ford GT and has zero to do with the process. It is merely an email list so Ford can send you info on their various models. If the poster thinks he is all set and that throws his hat in the ring to get a car he needs to backtrack on that if he even wants a shot at the car.

So what will be harder to get, the new Ford GT or the winning ticket to the $800M lottery this week? :)

From what i understand, and links posted on this thread, the process by which you get to the application process is by filling in the abovemetnioned form which gibves p[secific updates on the Gt. I said and meant nothing more, and I dont think anyone on this thread has said more than that.

Assuming one gets to the application process, and assuming its a legit process then there is a probably a long list of husrdles to overcome, so far none of us know what those are.

However the info that the cars will be allocated by Ford and not dealers gives pause for hope, nothing more nothing less. Assuming 250-300 cars per year for a few years, and asuming you can get on a ford list and dont have to be the first kid on the block with one, then there is a chance.

Its all meerly a first step, possibly a dead end. But of all the modern fast cars out there, and from what we know so far, this is the only one I would really want to buy and therefore keep. The reasons being that I take my cars to the track, dont ever sell, and so only buy fast cars that are a) properly trackable, and b) long term propositions because of what they are. Since the Gt is a race car, it should track well and hold up well there, I love the execution and design.

Hopefully ford sees fit to sellt his car to people who will use and keep them, instead of flippers and "collectors".
